About the comic:
AXE starts because an agent of Orchis aims the Eternals led by Druig at muants under the premise that the mutants fall under the terms of "excess Deviation" which Eternals are literally designed to eliminate.
This takes shape in two ways.
One, he sends Uranos to Mars for 1 hour to do as much damage as possible.
In 1 hour Uranos alone wipes out almost everything within 50 miles which includes killing Cable as indicated by the techno-organic markings on the skull, Magneto as indicated by the helmet in the previous two images although the actual act is shown earlier,
He also faces Legion for all of 28 seconds, 06:28 -> 06:56.
Two, he sends his own Eternals to the mutant island of Krakos to do as much damage as possible, starting with a massive psychic assault to shut down as many mutants as they can.
Druig then announces to the world he is "solving the mutant problem". which leads to many humans celebrating yet another mutant genocide happening. The OP pic is a follow up to this from a more personal POV.
As the battle rages on the Krakoa the mutants manage to kill 1 of 6 giant Eternals currently assaulting the island leading to the second set of 6 panels involving the OP humans.
Marvel maintains it's mastery of nuance by writing;
-
The hwite male as the intolerant one of mutants
-
The Canadian woman [who could be several different ethnicities with how she's been drawn] taking the role of flailing activist spending her time
pissing into the hurriancetweeting more feels
3, The old man dying [nobody cares about India]
The death being that of a man might raise some interest in Impy but he's been banned again 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
-
The poor, young, black woman in Brazil serving white customers while working her third job
-
The "[em]pathetic", black, American woman who is the only voice being raised that the genocide is wrong yet still drowning in SocJus.
-
The "white", brainless-zoomer, Asian gamer.
So the attempts are made to garner sympathy for the female characters while the male ones are discarded and made points of ridicule which is wonderful. As there are 6 giant Eternals and were 6 random humans there's a very likely chance we see these characters again and I predict the following:
-
Manchild dies
-
Canadian possibly dies but her tweets somehow "start a conversation"
-
Already dead, #RIPArjun #taken2soon
-
Will survive because she's a poor, black woman and needs pity
and money -
Will possibly realise her earlier actions were wrong but then still die or even better find out her daughter died because of an Eternal Reactivation first, realise she was wrong, then die to one herself for maximum irony [I can dream...]
-
Gamer dies
Or maybe a lot more die because in order to stop the fighting Ajak and Makkari have the brilliant idea to create their own Celestial from a corpse. It goes about as well as you would expect.
And while this is issue 2/6 of the AXE Judgement Day comic there is a lot still to happen as the event is 37 comics long and this is only the 5th issue...
