As someone who does a lot of writing and creative work, I can totally relate to losing interest in a project or suffering from long-term writer's block. That said, If GRRM would just be honest with himself and acknowledge that he's just not capable of finishing the books, he could take steps like choosing a ghostwriter to help him finish the stories while he's still alive and can still direct the stories according to his original vision.

As a layperson, the problem with GRRM seems to be his inability to admit he has a problem.
