It's very predatory, and newb writers are so desperate to follow accepted market trends and become a "real" author that they will lap up whatever the Socjus community tells them. They hear any old snake oil, and take it as gospel because they haven't developed enough wisdom to do their own thing and rely on their own instincts. Also it doesn't help that most authors are fairly neurotic, and stress out about finding the one single "correct" way to do things, even when the reality isn't that simple and there isn't one single correct way. When Socjus sells itself as "the correct thing," newb writers latch onto it like it's a fact of the universe just because they're so insecure and lacking in experience and hungry to be legitimized.

These SJW bastards basically killed the entire genre of pulp fantasy, because it pandered to traditionally masculine ideas. There's no taste for that in modern books anymore. Most audiences are women, and most modern authors don't have a traditional masculine mindset. Most of them are whipped, horrified of committing some perceived slight. They are very insecure, and releasing a book is a very personal thing. It's a slice of the author's mind, so an attack on it cuts an amateur author pretty deep. As a result new authors are very vulnerable to peer pressure and mockery.

This has allowed Socjus to effectively rule every writing community. It's really annoying. I used to frequent a lot of those websites, but since they've all become woke I can't discuss my work anywhere without getting buried in "hurr durr sexist hurr durr problematic" bullshit.
