Also, I'm not sure a Fort Sumter is avoidable, sadly. Those in power have the weight of allegedly Legitimate Authority behind them. They can push and push and push, and in many eyes still claim the "moral" high ground simply due to being the government. It's terrible logic, it's not true, but it's true in the eyes of many of the governed. Those in charge could actually send troops door-to-door, they could set up the camps, and any response to that would still be viewed as uncalled for.

I'm not sure the current regime could do anything that wouldn't be overshadowed by the response, no matter who grotesque their actions. Too many people are stuck in the 'government good' mindset. Which is terribly ironic since most of those people also hate America. If this kicks off, the anti-government side will be labeled the bad guys, no matter what.
