Wanting to preserve and uphold the values, traditions and cultural practices that have produced all of the freest, most stable and prosperous societies in human history and which provide stability to those societies is not regressive. It's common sense.

What is regressive is seeking to destabilize those societies by actively undermining and eroding those values and traditions, and by deliberately disrupting the integrity of the families and communities that provide the basis for that societal stability. When you do that, you invite chaos and division, instability and, inevitably, a reduction in the quality of life for everyone.
