He's wrong for many reasons (that I won't get into), the most important being that there isn't a political solution to our spiritual problems. Humanly speaking, it's pretty grim, especially when you look at the previous work done. The only explanation for all this, is that spiritually we're running on fumes, and desperately are in need of gaining/regaining our faith in Jesus Christ.

A nations spiritual state (relationship to God), is tied to their morale, and ultimately success.
