The problem with Descartes like most philosophical writings is they get cherry picked and then twisted. Usually when you read their whole writings it becomes apparent that by the end of their lifetimes they rebutt or disprove their own theories.

Descartes, I think therefore I am, is the birth of solipsism.

SJWs and the left as seen here have twisted his works.

Descartes originally posited that if you removed all other beliefs you held, the only thing you could know to be true, is yourself. He later posited that this however could also be false within the mentally ill.

Descartes was trying to advocate for Rationalism as a philosophy. When others started taking on his work, they like others cherry picked points to work from.

Rationalism has to be enacted on a personal conscious scale and like all "ideologies" can be taken too far.

Marx built on this single aspect in that if people won't rationalise communism as a good thing on their own, then he can use social pressure.

Ironically, self adopting rational thinking can also be what sheds the desire to fit in to other ideologies... Like communism.

Descartes however was a left leaning person anyway (judged by his other positions) but he could have easily fallen to the way of nihilist thinking or even capitalist.

Descartes even supported religion and Christianity in the end with Meditations and his works supported believing.

Just figured I'd point out that descartes rationalism / solipsism is a very small part of communism. If Marx was the bricks, descartes was the cement mixer.

There's a reason why you'll see in ops above it mentions both communists and globalists. Because they both use the same tools but for different goals.
