So a few things. Professor Abbot is unquestionably the good guy in all this - he's criticizing the exclusion of Chinese students and comparing it to the discrimination that his Jewish ancestors faced (his full name is Dorian Schuyler Abbot). The people attacking him are absolute, purebred sociopaths - look at the censored list of names Wright provides. Every one of these little Red Guard monsters lists his pronouns next to his name.

So while I am fully on Abbot's side, there is something unfortunate about him. I read his defense of himself, and he completely unironically cited the pseudo-scientific 'implicit association test'. He said he took it five years ago, and it showed bias against wahmen in science, and that he took it again this year and it showed no bias. He thinks this shows change in himself, rather than the supposed test being bunk. Quite unfortunate. But his heart is in the right place.

There is a petition in his support, which Steven Pinker has signed and which now has nearly 2500 signatures.

EDIT: Good news: Brian Leiter, a leftist professor so radical that he called for Trump to be deposed in a military coup and jailed, has come out in support of Abbot.
