If you mean rules, then better rule systems are already out there. Which one exactly you want depends what you like (or hate) about GW rules.
If you mean the lore... open source lore sounds terrible. Not worth compromising your principles over, but it is a loss. I would not call it "easily replacable."
40k/et al from GW has some of the shittiest rules for wargaming out there. The lore is what has always carried them and it is extremely dense. The Horus Heresy spans over 50 novels...
How will the Black Library respond to this push? All of their hard work over the years being shit-canned? I just don't see how they possibly retcon their entire premise to be SJW palatable without completely dunking their core business model.
