Depends, if you're on steam you can't block it from auto-updating. You could try exiting steam and retrying to download, maybe that'll fix it.

Thank you, unfortunately after much tinkering, it appears to just be a forced/required one. Bummed because I could have bought it from Amazon and saved $10, but I bought it elsewhere so I could just play it immediately lol
