This is something I've been thinking a lot about with regards to the popular games these days that aren't F2P and I often poke at open world stuff to see what makes them tick. Take away the large scale world and what do you have aside from that? An extremely basic third person controller, a bunch of weapons they probably spent five seconds doing and then a soft body physics simulation for vehicles and vehicle damage.
They seem to spend most of their time spamming art assets all over the places to make the game seem bigger than it really is but if you actually try to 'game' in it you quickly realise that there's fuck all to do and they've put tons of empty space between the game. Seems like people who enjoy these games are the types who are easily distracted by all the shiny stuff and don't really care much about the gameplay of which there is very little.
It's so bad now that when I look at any modern game I check for whether it's linear or not and make sure there's no designing mechanics in there. The reason being is chances are if it's linear the developer probably spent more time with the level design and making it fun than simply scattering assets about the place and overcompensating with procedural generation.
Now obviously, caveat, we all have our concerns about Milei, me included, but honestly? In terms of domestic policy he's doing everything I like so it was interesting waiting to see what was going to happen with Argentina. I kind of want to visit just to confirm how things are going in Argentina for myself because the leftists tried spamming about soup kitchens and chaos as they often do which instantly makes me suspicious.
This is the sort of thing I'm keeping an eye on generally at the moment. There's also the European Migration Pact which just recently passed and it seems to be part of the effort of the elites to spread the load of migrants and they're trying to force EU countries to accept everything or share the costs if they don't want to. I found watching this fascinating, doing some maths autism on the games market again but looking at the searches and comparing it to the steam data makes you think. The keyword searches are probably a fairly accurate gauge of interest in these games because even with botting it's probably going to account for people looking up things like guides for the games and generally searching it up.
As opposed to steam where yes, people will buy the game in question but then it will be dead as anything if you actually log into the multiplayer or you find it's completely broken and there's something deeply suspicious about the reviews.

I do appreciate youtubers who go into the topic of cheating honestly because it does seem to be a major problem in the biggest games. He does mention it quite rightly but cheat whiners are going to be just as big of a problem as the hackers themselves.

As far as I'm concerned multiplayer is dead until they do proper community servers again or have some kind of ability to do private instancing with the matchmaking or have a group of trusted people players can add to a whitelist which I think would work well and the whitelisted players hang out with each other and that's how you self-police.

I bought this game ages ago and I was checking it out of curiosity to see what updates were being done and surprisingly they were still working on it and adding stuff. However it looks like a lot of devs are exploiting the fuck out of the steam stats and Valve are not bothering to clamp down on this behaviour at all because all they want to do is collect their share of the sales.

Even without the enemies having 500000 hitpoints it seems that matchmaking is often garbage in these games at the best of time which immediately gets me having flashbacks to GTA V and I go into a fetal position over that because rockstars matchmaking is truly awful. I don't think I could ever play co-op with people if they just quit halfway through and inevitably the instance ends right there so you're fucked and have to immediately jump to a queue only to have another twat abandon a game right after. So unless you can keep playing with people even after they leave or solo it that means the game is effectively unplayable.

I know most people here aren't massive retards about this, but one of the reasons I've been looking into the motorbike game is because there are far more vehicles out there that are extremely simple to repair potentially by myself and everything is analogue. I'm not that bad when it comes to vehicles and yes I do know that most vehicles currently do not rely on an internet connection DRM style to keep operational as of yet, but that may start changing soon as they keep pushing green agenda nonsense.
However with what we've seen being done to planes I'm going to play it completely safe because the elites are retarded they're probably going to be pushing people to buy electronic vehicles and this will have all kinds of ways to track your positional data as you're travelling through the country. I realise I'm probably going to regret even making the topic given the nature of the internet, but I've been having ideas again now that I managed to get a properly working inventory up and running which really is the hardest part of doing an RPG code wise. To amuse myself I've been looking specifically at skill points and how they work as well as the 'skilling up' process. I always find myself drawn to the RPGs that are about skill points rather than levels purely because of the sheer variety they offer in terms of gameplay and it's not as limiting as class based gameplay. Although I think that class based gameplay can be fun if it's designed correctly.
I've been mainly looking at Morrowind for the moment, I tried looking at Fallout, but it's filled with normie shit thanks to youtube. I don't know if I should check out stuff like Ultima Online perhaps and older RPGs because that was from a time when gamers were allowed to be autistic with the maths on paper without having to hide everything behind code.

This is the sort of thing I've been looking at, I'm just interested in learning the maths properly and checking out different systems. Obviously Fallout's SPECIAL stats are fairly iconic, but in the end their formulae isn't that out there. I'm not looking for sperging about skills generally, but specific mathematical formulae. In the video for example it details how much the experience points rate increases based on what type of skill you've put in a misc./minor/major category.
When it comes to action scenes I can be pretty forgiving as long as it least looks cool but this was garbage. I'm putting out some blatant marketing feelers today because one thing I've been thinking about a lot lately is the type of games I want to focus on making the most but more importantly what type of games do I actually play the most? The thing that smacked me in the face a lot was how much I enjoy grand strategy type games.
The problem with that is of course, there aren't that many of them out there that I haven't played to death and the ones that do exist are created by companies that are trying to wring their playerbase dry as much as possible like Paradox Interactive and Creative Assembly.
So with that in mind I've been wondering about the type of grand strategy game people would want that doesn't have the DLC garbage spammed everywhere. What sort of features would you want to see? As for the setting, I'm kind of thinking of having a fantasy setting but allow you to control Romans as part of the main story.
Sort of like the anime GATE but in the reverse and I'd have it where Rome ends up invading a fantasy world which would be hilarious I think but also somewhat interesting. There are also frequently used features in grand strategy that I find very annoying which I would probably remove or fix somehow like diplomacy spam for example. I do know that Age of Wonders exists, don't get me wrong but boy did that game need to be optimised, don't know if they've fixed the issues yet.
I don't know how bad it is in the US at the moment because I can imagine in a country as big as that it would vary wildly but I've seen the New York videos of recent bullshit with migration and the built up areas look horrible. Imagine actually believing the media narrative around population, but I really am having a major case of "My lying eyes" lately because I swear even by the standards of Bradford which I have to drive through regularly things are regularly getting worse.

Partly for inspiration with my obsession I have lately with storyboarding animation shorts I've been watching movies that drastically vary in quality. Lord of the rings is the most obvious one for general inspiration because overall even the 3D effects were done to an amazing standard but I couldn't help be fascinated by the drop in quality for the mission impossible movies.
They were always I think it's fair to argue B-Tier action movies so not anything to be amazed by. However even when it comes to action movies if they're long running you can see as time goes on even the omfg look at the amazing 3D vomit aspect has gone down the hill and it's so damn disappointing. The reason being is Hollywood are going to be people who can afford big render farms among other things so they should be able to churn out the most amazing special effects you've ever seen but I've seen blender users on 1080's do better jobs than the retards who do the compositing and the effects for 'modern' movies and general 3D.
What do we get instead? Tom Cruise panicking in a closed cubicle over some poorly rendered low res 3D smoke that I could have done a better job with and I have a 1660 super. Hell, it would have been more cost effective and a better job to just deploy a smoke machine and have it blow around the way you want it to which is another example of why practical effects are so much better sometimes and even take less effort to do.
Fucking Hollywood can't even get basic compositing and 3D effects right anymore, they also did this 3D scene with the Kremlin and I could instantly spot they'd done a green screen/possibly studio mockup and it was baffling how low detail the effects were for what was inevitably a pretty big budget movie.
