The Comanches were legitimately terrifying, especially when you hear about what they did to prisoners. Even the US Army was scared shitless of them, and they had technological superiority.

Kidnapping your neighbors and cutting out their hearts doesn't exactly endear you to them.

Hell, the Aztecs were so hated by other tribes in the area that those tribes happily allied with the Spanish to wipe out the Aztecs.

Here in the United States, when the AIDS Epidemic started in the early 1980s, laws were quickly passed to prevent people from losing their jobs over their HIV status. In fact, employers aren't even allowed to ask if an employee is HIV positive. If they do, they can get sued.

Now 40 years later, not only are employers allowed to ask if you've had your covid vaccine, but they're allowed to punish you if you say no, either by making you wear a mask or even firing you.

Paul Verhoeven, the same guy who directed RoboCop, Total Recall, and Basic Instinct.

And you're right. Verhoeven said that he started the book but never finished it because it was "too depressing." So instead he decided to make the film a satire of fascism and militarism.

But it's debatable about how good he was at that. Sargon of Akkad's video on Starship Troopers talks about how the movie was meant to parody fascism, but instead made it look awesome.

I wonder if Metallica will change the name of what fans have voted their best song: Master of Puppets.

James is pretty based. But Kirk is a total soyboy cuck.

She could have been killed. There's a reason why you don't approach a horse from behind. Horses can kick hard enough to kill other horses.

The Napster debacle was another case of media dishonesty. It was portrayed as a bunch of out-of-touch millionaire rock stars trying to destroy a small tech startup. In reality, Napster was a multi-million dollar corporation with its own legal department. And the reason Metallica was pissed was because a song they hadn't finished recording and mixing yet had been leaked to the net. It was an unfinished product.
