Okay this one was at least funny and it confirms my prejudices because it looks like everybody is having a red pill moment on migration with this. The fucking foreigners as expected are ignoring all of the normal conventions of British society and it is predictably causing chaos.

See 19:37 for Bradford to understand just how bad it is in that shithole I grew up in. This isn't even the most egregious example you can see where the foreigners just ignore pedestrian crossings. They don't understand speed bumps and clearly believe that if they don't go 10mph or slower and swerve suddenly into the centre of them they'll wreck their suspension so they act very unpredictably and act like their lives depend on it.

The other ridiculous things they do is they don't understand or give a shit about giving way and it's frequently causing chaos in the traffic as a result. The aggressive little shits will just barrel their way through and then wonder why people are beeping at them or just get mad themselves that people aren't moving 'fast enough'. They don't understand mini-roundabouts or roundabouts in general and they're all buying fucking pickup trucks and other stupidly wide vehicles that they can't fit on the roads properly presumably with gibs money or debt which makes it all the more of a piss take.

I can't fucking wait for the economy collapse because they're all going to leave once there's no money to be had. They never gave a shit about Britain in the slightest.

https://baldursgate3.game/news/community-update-26-evil-endings-new-beginnings_117

We’re working on our next game update, Patch 7, which will add improved evil endings to the game for even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs, and yes, that includes you non-Durge players.

I suppose this is good news, but I also bet it's because the bulk of the playerbase finally finished the game ( As if it was that difficult to do ) a lot of the positive reviews were based on Act 1 or Act 2 and people hadn't even gotten to Act 3 yet which is a piss take. They're admitting now the hype has died down they had an unfinished game on their hands and now they seem to be finishing it.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a great example of why steam metrics are worth jack shit in terms of research and marketing purposes. Any honest reviews get drowned out by fanbois and spam or bots reposting shitty memes and bumping each other up. The whole site has turned into a reddit clone with blatant shills covering for each other.

28

Now don't get me wrong, yes I know it's Rockstar, yes they are probably still going to make millions because GTA has such an established fanbase and they will buy a literal turd with a rockstar logo on it given the opportunity, this is all true.

However even if the story mode is half-decent and I've got this feeling it's going to be fairly lackluster given the angle that they're going with and it seems despite being a 'crime' game they're shying more and more away from controversy these days and have definitely been infested with the woke.

Here's where it's going to get funny though, GTA Online. Oh boy is that going to be a clusterfuck. The brain drain is very real at game studios and it looks like they're having more and more problems holding onto talent. Any programmer with half a brain isn't going to want anything to do with these arseholes. Found a youtube video that does a perfect job encapsulating all the problems with online which as with most modern games is just a vehicle for micro-transactions so they make sure it's always more convenient to whip out your bank card and sign over your details. It's remarkable how Rockstar Games have managed to make a crime game that's boring.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IypemNHafM

I have barely even ranted about how bad this game is going to be from a technical networking perspective yet either since we're seeing how GTA V even to this day is constantly falling over due to the number of players. Even if people still buy the game, they're going to get pissed off at the state of it. I have to wonder as well how much of the back end of GTA VI they've really messed with and if it's just another clone of the same code as GTA V.

11

I had not put two and two together on this but I was struggling to get any online games even loading through matchmaking. GTA V fell over completely for me after awhile because it seems the servers are completely backed up with players in the holidays for various regions and even the otherwise venerable counter strike was getting screwed by the amount of players all trying to connect at once.

I remember what was it Jedi Survivor ( correct me on that one ) or some such had similar problems with people even trying to get the damn game to run because the authentication crap was all online. Everybody trying to join at once? It completely falls over. I'm finding this pretty funny because this is the type of thing where their insistence on keeping things online has completely backfired and is another great example of why community servers should always be a thing. You guys remember couch gaming and LAN? No problem with connection issues.

13

I'm going to give it a shot I think, will make backups of everything including Windows and I'm not going to try and force myself into Linux. However I will set myself some goals. I really like the look of Nobara because it was developed by Glorious Egg Roll and seems to be developed purpose built for gaming rather than some neckbeards slapping together various bits and claiming it's supported as is often the case unfortunately when it comes to open source then bitching at people who have the audacity to use it for gaming as advertised.

What sold me completely on Nobara was how easy the driver setup process was because that's something that completely drove me mad. Inevitably if you're just a simple end user very easy to cock up and you won't know if it's been done correctly or not. You've installed the wrong version of Nvidia driver desktop such and such 0.0551.4123.1313 now go back again. Yes I'm exaggerating but that's still very much what it's like sometimes.

Don't get any of that with Nobara, it detects your hardware plonks you into the update and lets you download what you need which is an absolute joy. Got my USB sticks now will be giving it a shot and if there are any special steps I have to do it I'll post them. The joke is my work related stuff should work fine out of the box but we'll see what happens.

Checklist tasks when installation done

. Remove password protection ( Never liked that feature, not relevant for me )

. Get brave running with previous bookmarks and passwords

. Install DeadBeef

. Install Nvidia drivers

. Play one very common mainstream game

. Render a backed up scene in Blender cycles

. Run Godot By The Gods project and playtest

. Record by the gods gameplay in OBS

. Sail the high seas and run a game

. See if Morrowind/New Vegas will run?

I know there will be some more organic titles like Helldivers 2 getting popular and of course the much loved Deep Rock Galactic. I wonder though if we're going to see more and more co-op based stuff being pushed as devs seem completely uninterested in trying to solve the issues of multiplayer games if they can't retain control of the playerbase. The co-op genre by itself I don't have a problem with, I'm just not that interested in it.

Seems that the next logical conclusion for these bastards is to start making a push for catering to casuals and console players a lot more and pump out boring online only co-op scenarios that aren't remotely challenging and then proceed to spam microtransactions in peoples' faces. My reasoning for this is that it gives players something 'new' to try and they don't even have to worry about all of the problematic stuff like balance or hacking that often comes with more competitive based titles.

This makes sense to me, but it's so damn cringe because it's the safe and easy option and bores me to death. More and more it's becoming clear that AAA studios are simply not interested in catering to gamers who want to be challenged because it's too much of a challenge for them to make something good.

TLDR: Smol pp AAA studios are pussying out of the overall gaming market to cater to normie console peasants by trying to normalise co-op gaming and avoid all other genres.

This is why I shit on these university students protesting, they are current thing NPCs and nothing more. Also, holy shit they'd be easy to doxx if somebody put their minds to it, those masks are barely covering their features. I never thought I'd write this, but Antifa are more competent at this than they are so these are some low IQ morons even amongst university students.

Autism time.

So the biggest obstacle for me when I tried out Linux was installing stuff manually outside of steam and often steam itself wouldn't work which was probably a result of me not understanding how to setup dependencies etc. Maybe it's just because I've got more time to look through all of this but I think they might have changed a bit how Lutris works as well to be a bit more user friendly since I last checked. From my perspective I'd look at the damn interface and it felt like I was dealing with a virtual machine.

If I were sailing the high seas for example, how would I set everything up?

Yes, for the record I know it's not actually a virtual machine before the Linux autists rip me a new one but that's just my windows experience talking. I found it very confusing because I didn't know what files were where, if I wanted to for example put mods into Fallout 4 I wouldn't know where I could do it. How do you guys organise your files? What's your process for keeping track of multiple hard disks and naming conventions etc.?

Yes this is all really basic stuff by Linux user standards, but as a potential end user looking to give it a shot I thought it would be helpful having an up to date thread on this for people to spam information on because as it turns out there's a lot of out of date topics and videos I'm seeing floating around about this.

33

I realise this is a weird topic to bring up but as people know I'm always advocating people make their own stuff these days to decouple themselves from woke content plus if you find that you enjoy it it's great fun and really rewarding. I would much rather spend hours on this than even paying attention to any of the utter shit popping up on trending pages these days and it will be my primary form of escapism.

One way I have been seriously upping my art game is speed running Ryan King Art tutorials. The best part is his channel isn't dead and he keeps on adding stuff which is nice to see that he's keeping going with it. He has some modelling tutorials but a big part of his focus is on procedural materials and if you go through them you can make some absolutely amazing stuff very much on par with AAA content in terms of texturing. Then of course if you want to add little detail and scratches or make it a bit more unique you could potentially use texture paint which Blender has the capability for.

https://www.youtube.com/@RyanKingArt/videos

Currently I've been looking at his greeble stuff and I'm also looking at snow/sand as that would make it relatively straightforward to make some short films without having to model crap tons of vegetation. His tutorials aren't for beginners obviously but if you're looking to 'get gud' the procedural materials in particular are fantastic. Bearing in mind you will be needing cycles because he makes heavy use of bump and displacement to get those shiny details in so make sure you've got the PC for it.

His videos are reminding me I really need to have a look at geometry nodes sometime because I've barely looked at that. He's seriously got every single material you can think of you might need. I want to settle down with the rocky desert tutorial because my scenes have been lacking in colour and are a bit too dark even for space.

I saw this pop up and I found it pretty interesting, it looks like Microsoft is making more DRM moves on Windows generally and like it or not they're going to force everyone to upgrade to Windows 11. I went through the pain of learning the bypasses early on because I knew this was going to happen but it looks like they really are going out of their way to shut down local account setups.

This is important to bring up, oh I wish, I wish the Linux community would get their thumbs out their arses and make some kind of easy to use normie distro. The microsoft market share is ripe for the taking with every dick move that they attempt.

I would have jumped ship ages ago but the problem is the ease of use when it comes to windows the beauty of the simple double click and GUI is not to be underestimated. It's going to be a lot like anything that big tech does now it seems and people are going to be pushed more and more towards open source options because of big tech stuff simply becoming unusable crap due to the types of people that are being hired en masse at these companies.

I guess I should potentially look into Linux again and at least research my options but I don't know if in 2024 things have gotten any better beyond the god awful endless terminal nonsense that reminds me of a worse version of DOS. Please autists, please make a normie distros for Linux that let's me do gaming easily because I want to do stuff like play Morrowind and other old windows based games.

As mentioned awhile back, this won't be isolated incidents either, even though the white university student leftists are dipshits the Muslims aren't and are looking to seriously kick things off on campus it seems and they're using Palestine as the main pretext. Surprised this incident at Hamburg hasn't gotten more traction, seems everyone is laser focused on the campus bullshit.

This is pretty significant and an example of how much I keep underestimating what massive retards the people in charge really are and the problems of diversity hiring are really beginning to show themselves now. Since Count Dankula is Scottish, he provided quite a bit of detail in what's going on, but basically he fucked up so badly that he sabotaged the relationship with the green party who were the only thing keeping them in power through a coalition effort.

I absolutely want the left to get into power now because the Conservatives were halfway compliment in implementing their policies even if the policies were all fucking terrible. Imagine having a million Humza Yousaf's doing everything in government across the country and it's going to cause a collapse to happen.

I'm really looking forward to this and I'm in a good mood now LOL. The thing is as well we might see a general election being triggered as a result of this because fucking Sunak is almost as bad and we know there's a lot of retarded anti-white sentiment across the board in the political parties, the left will be smelling blood in the water.

It's going to be even better than simple diversity hiring as well because we're going to have literal retards in charge of taxation and everything. In Bradford for example there's currently a mayoral election going on and the Labour party candidate had this terrible idea of basically nationalising the bus companies and forcing the rates to all be £2 which of course is going to be completely destroying everything and will likely bankrupt them then the idiot will be doing a pikachu face over it after they get ousted by an angry mob because of course with Bradford being a pretty poor city a lot of people will rely on the bus routes. Also one of the major reasons I'm looking at vehicle options very carefully even at the local level.

Expect a serious fucking shitshow to start kicking off now that the left is looking at getting some major gains in both parliaments.

10

Baffling and just another sanity check for my sake, it happened over the past few days but have people suddenly gotten everything back the way it was? Maybe there was a huge number of complaints to Google or something.

15

I'm surprised it took me so long to explain properly in detail exactly why QTE is such a terrible game design choice but I think it's important to articulate your thoughts rather than be some irrational douchebag about it. Oddly enough, it was my recent attempts at trying to play modern 'rockstar games' and finally tweak on them that did it. I can't seriously think of any gamer who looks at that shitty gameplay and goes "Yes, I can't wait to tap a button repeatedly in order to progress through a cutscene that has nothing to do with the gameplay!".

Do you guys remember how they did it in older games? I even have something of a reliable formulae on that as well and I'm making notes on it which is part of what this post is about.

gameplay/cutscene/gameplay/cutscene/ - Simple right?

Now it's fucking

Gameplay/CutsceneQTE/QTE/Gameplay/CutsceneQTE/CutsceneQTE WITH EPIC ENDING PRESS X TO APPRECIATE

It's the "Press F to pay respects" meme on steroids and I hate it. Finishing a game used to be a joy, you used to get excited with a story driven game and could sit back and watch it like a movie for a reward once you beat a certain section a.k.a Halo 2 ( Especially with the amazing anniversary cutscenes ).

Now you have to keep doing this bullshit of "PRESS X TO APPRECIATE CUTSCENE" and it drives me fucking mental. Games developers much like with ubisoft with their gameplay breaking UI vomit seem to have tricked themselves into thinking this is what gamers want or alternatively and sadly more likely this is pretentious hipster nonsense and they really think this design philosophy is the way to go and then they act shocked that so many gamers aren't interested in their stupid walking simulators. It's so damn boring with arguably no real gameplay you could probably code some hotkey script to play the game for you.

TAP X REPEATEDLY TO COLLECT CASH LOOK AT HOW AMAZING THIS CRIME GAME IS YOU GUYS BY THE WAY YOU CAN'T SKIP IT EITHER

https://archive.is/6skhb

You guys may remember my inane rantings about the width of vehicles? It turns out I'm not insane on this issue at all and there's maths being done and it's not just the lack of English speakers in suburban areas that are going to become a major problem it's the fact that foreigners ( Yes it's mainly foreigners you see in these cars ) are buying cars that are too fucking big for most of the roads here.

Even the most irritating chav knows not to go onto minor roads with their fucking Subaru but lately I've been seeing it more and more that you have an even bigger problem than people buying massive cars that can't fit on even the major roads. There are douchebags who deliberately taking their oversized vehicles onto minor roads knowing they're too big and they block up the entire area stopping people from getting anywhere so everybody has to move around and accommodate them and I had an encounter yesterday dealing with just that which managed to set me off.

New data suggests that cars in the UK are starting to exceed the 180cm minimum width for on-street parking as drivers in Britain tend to opt for larger SUVs.

T&E's study found that the average width of new cars (not including the wing mirrors) expanded by 2.5cm between 2017 (177.8cm) and 2023 (180.3cm).

This one you may find particularly interesting.

This is because the traditional parking space at a supermarket or multistorey car park has remained unchanged for half a century.

The population density and vehicle size is simply changing far too fast for the infrastructure to keep up in a lot of places that were literally designed for horse and carriage. It's amazing the douchebags buying these vehicles can't put two and two together on that or they simply don't care and it seems to be more the latter these days. I know that quote was talking about supermarkets, but it's not just that, the minor roads are very much like this in the UK.

Oh this country is fucked, this is why I do my shops almost exclusively at night now, particularly at the worse times which in the UK is between 17:00 - 19:00 when everyone is coming home from their jobs. You have people clogging up roundabouts and making certain areas impossible to get through because they just occupy the roads rather than drive normally.

The articles are majorly wrong about one thing, the bigger vehicles are not going to cause more accidents, because in order to have an accident you have to be able to move. It's funny because they kind of contradict themselves in the articles themselves, at this rate it is going to be completely impractical to drive a car which is why I'm switching to a scooter.

Don't come here seriously lol.

24

I tried forcing myself to play GTA V Online ( specifically online ) again just recently, it was a mistake and I hate these fuckers who try and hype it up, they're liars and they always leave out the garbage code and design in online. Even though they did somewhat fix the loading screen, it's not as bad as I remember, it's still a major problem with the game. I know randoms will always have a bad reputation but I'm most astounded at how utterly incompetent they are which is why I'm inclined to avoid co-op in general because of this. Maybe duos, because then there's a slightly better chance you'll run into someone with a brain than four players but holy shit.

Also tried to force myself to play PUBG, at least I could do that solo but what's hilarious is they've switched to a new engine allegedly and it still runs like shit because the map is way too big for the type of game it is. If the game was smaller then players would more easily encounter each other and you could get in and out of deathmatches a lot faster especially on solo mode it might be enjoyable but no.

Normies should feel bad for the games they play, at least I can somewhat understand the Sims 4 and Stardew Valley because that's something you can relax to but most of these multiplayer games almost seem designed to be shit on purpose. I know GTA V definitely is because it's just crappy elimination and heist missions with laser targeting NPCs and they even have a cooldown on missions you can complete solo in order to force you through their bullshit. The online portion of GTA V is all about trying to make the grind as painful as possible so you shell out your money to buy in-game items.

I thought I'd save you guys some time in case any of you got any ideas of trying to see why people were playing these titles like I did.

11

This is something I've been thinking a lot about with regards to the popular games these days that aren't F2P and I often poke at open world stuff to see what makes them tick. Take away the large scale world and what do you have aside from that? An extremely basic third person controller, a bunch of weapons they probably spent five seconds doing and then a soft body physics simulation for vehicles and vehicle damage.

They seem to spend most of their time spamming art assets all over the places to make the game seem bigger than it really is but if you actually try to 'game' in it you quickly realise that there's fuck all to do and they've put tons of empty space between the game. Seems like people who enjoy these games are the types who are easily distracted by all the shiny stuff and don't really care much about the gameplay of which there is very little.

It's so bad now that when I look at any modern game I check for whether it's linear or not and make sure there's no designing mechanics in there. The reason being is chances are if it's linear the developer probably spent more time with the level design and making it fun than simply scattering assets about the place and overcompensating with procedural generation.

Now obviously, caveat, we all have our concerns about Milei, me included, but honestly? In terms of domestic policy he's doing everything I like so it was interesting waiting to see what was going to happen with Argentina. I kind of want to visit just to confirm how things are going in Argentina for myself because the leftists tried spamming about soup kitchens and chaos as they often do which instantly makes me suspicious.

This is the sort of thing I'm keeping an eye on generally at the moment. There's also the European Migration Pact which just recently passed and it seems to be part of the effort of the elites to spread the load of migrants and they're trying to force EU countries to accept everything or share the costs if they don't want to. I'm impatiently playing the waiting game at the moment and seeing what unfolds.

Since taking office, Milei has devalued the currency by more than 50%, halved the number of government ministries

I love how they keep repeating this lie, they neglect to mention the currency was already at that value to begin with it was just on the black market. All Milei did was bring that shit out into the open and quite a few people pointed this out when they were spamming it.

I found watching this fascinating, doing some maths autism on the games market again but looking at the searches and comparing it to the steam data makes you think. The keyword searches are probably a fairly accurate gauge of interest in these games because even with botting it's probably going to account for people looking up things like guides for the games and generally searching it up.

As opposed to steam where yes, people will buy the game in question but then it will be dead as anything if you actually log into the multiplayer or you find it's completely broken and there's something deeply suspicious about the reviews.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjBhEwMdrtk

I do appreciate youtubers who go into the topic of cheating honestly because it does seem to be a major problem in the biggest games. He does mention it quite rightly but cheat whiners are going to be just as big of a problem as the hackers themselves.

With these kinds of trust systems and so on that are going to be proposed you're inevitably going to see the hackers themselves mass reporting players ( Which is exactly what happens with rockstar games and they even stalk peoples' IP addresses due to a major security bug, don't use online with Rockstar ever these days ) but you'll also see the cheat whiners reporting players for being good because they're butthurt they lost.

As far as I'm concerned multiplayer is dead until they do proper community servers again or have some kind of ability to do private instancing with the matchmaking or have a group of trusted people players can add to a whitelist which I think would work well and the whitelisted players hang out with each other and that's how you self-police.

His proposals though of letting the community decide on game wide bans is dog shit and is going to cause tons of drama, AI is an even worse idea.

I bought this game ages ago and I was checking it out of curiosity to see what updates were being done and surprisingly they were still working on it and adding stuff. However it looks like a lot of devs are exploiting the fuck out of the steam stats and Valve are not bothering to clamp down on this behaviour at all because all they want to do is collect their share of the sales.

Doesn't matter if you buy a game and it's a completely fucking dead project that got spoofed by fake reviews, nope, not getting your money back on that one. We really are just scratching the surface with the level of scammy behaviour going on in the games industry. I think it's entirely possible with how bad things are we're going to see game devs going to jail for shit at some point. They are that corrupt and that's why they don't want autists who keep sleuthing around their business better than any journalists.

Steam is an exploit ridden piece of shit software.

I know I sound like an absolute classic hipster right now who's bitching about their favourite band going mainstream and acting like it's ruined but I'm really feeling empathetic towards those guys right now. I bring up Ukraine because it was funny how everyone with access to an internet connection suddenly had an opinion on it even though they obviously couldn't point to it on a map much like with Israel-Palestine.

It was this sort of thing that got me pretty red pilled on the commentating crowd because even people who should have known better to shut their mouths and at least do some studying first had to pump out their videos to meet the demands of the stupid keyword algorithms.

Same thing is happening with Fallout now and all of a sudden the fucking hair twirlers are pretending they love Fallout and videos are going to be pumped out left and right talking about how amazing the Fallout games are just because it hit the trending pages. This wouldn't be such a bad thing by itself because it would fade off eventually but now you've got these fuckers who are going to sit there trying to flex to everyone who the biggest Fallout fan is.

You know it's going to happen with Warhammer and the shills will be out in force next right? We've all seen it coming but I feel like the Warhammer bullshit is going to sting particularly hard. These people don't fucking have hobbies so they've got to go and ruin everyone else's and that goes for the people who aren't leftists as well.

Ohhhh fuck no, I don't want to see all the cosplaying noooo it just entered into my head what they're going to do for Halloween :(

https://rumble.com/v4q6oxf-ana-kasparians-war-on-the-left.html

I do appreciate Callum on this one because I feel like he represents a lot of people out there who do sometimes go "Shut up Carl" even if I might agree with him on a lot of things. Yes it's great Ana's finally having a red pill moment but at the same time Callum has a point about her and people like her. It's no surprise the lotus eaters is blowing up on Rumble because they really do have some true diversity of thought there, maybe they can invite Ana Kasparian on after she gets excommunicated if she survives. Good on them really, seems like they're getting anywhere between 4,000 - 5,000 viewers fairly regularly which is amazing for most people.

32

Going through the absolute shit on offer currently it really is remarkable to me how backwards this industry has gotten. Micro-transactions were one thing but it looks like any kind of co-op game is just some god awful grind fest if it's free to play yet that's what the majority of the cons00mer types seem to be playing now.

At least Stardew Valley and Helldivers 2 can be called video games but honestly I tried PoE and it bored me to death not to mention the obvious trash FPS issues it seems to have right at the beginning. I'm going to just check out the Warframe gameplay rather than play it myself.

Even without the enemies having 500000 hitpoints it seems that matchmaking is often garbage in these games at the best of time which immediately gets me having flashbacks to GTA V and I go into a fetal position over that because rockstars matchmaking is truly awful. I don't think I could ever play co-op with people if they just quit halfway through and inevitably the instance ends right there so you're fucked and have to immediately jump to a queue only to have another twat abandon a game right after. So unless you can keep playing with people even after they leave or solo it that means the game is effectively unplayable.

Yep, offline or solo play only for me.
