Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?
I am a passionate gamer and have been observing with growing concern how Kotaku, a major player in video game journalism, is negatively affecting the industry. Kotaku has deviated from journalistic integrity by hiring activists posing as journalists. This ...
I'd heard about this. Seriously, firing Mercante is a bare minimum, they deserve so much worse after what she just did.
Edit: Oh, the petition doesn't say it. Mercante got in touch with HIS WIFE and "asked for her view" on how she feels about him "making violent statements and threats" towards people, something she can't actually back up. Honestly, this story probably deserves its own thread, I'm not in a position to make one right now if someone else wants to. Also a defender saying "Yeah, find their wives and kids and string'em up. It's consequences." It's going down the route of "this is the kind of shit that actually justifies violent retribution from the right."
EDIT 2: Here is a tweet from Mark Kern going into it. He has a few tweets about it. https://twitter.com/Grummz/status/1787963134424347065
Any kind of accountability would be nice, it doesn't have to be bullets in skulls.
It will get there, unfortunately, because people are too concerned about being nice, and won't apply the reciprocity needed. Eventually, when these struggle sessions finally push people over the edge, the "blowback" will be epic.
Defeat kotaku by not talking about them.
They're already burning, but making shit like this just pushes them back into the limelight. Next we'll get a bunch of articles saying incels are trying to shut down journalism or some bull.
KIA1 said the same about people like Zoe Quinn. In fact that idea is what spawned the "Literally Who" meme.
Then a few years later she appeared from the ether and killed a man, destroyed his legacy and showed how well that whole idea worked.
The thing women hate more than anything is being ignored.
But with crazy bitches that does have consequences, yeah.
Leaving evil alone inevitably creates more victims.
And most of these rags are filled with and march around like women.
Taylor Lorenz made a complete joke of herself, lost her biggest journalism job, yet is still going around writing articles for smaller rags and contributing to the same zeitgeist. Proving that nothing really gets accomplished by ignoring that, it just gives them the power to keep pumping garbage into the tide without anyone keeping tabs on it.
If truth is not protected, it is drowned in lies.
Be loud.
This is cringe, all these games journalist companies are going out of business due to their own incompetence and rage bait articles. Doing what people are doing where they make sure they get zero traffic is fucking over these phony journalism sites more than any petition ever could. I feel like I'm witnessing 2015 era tactics and memes being revived even though it's 2024.
Frankly, we've got bigger fish to fry, like glowies, contractors, localisers and the fact that Vanguard and Blackrock have a hand in every AAA studio out there and are propping them up financially. These dipshits are nobodies realistically no matter how much they try to write fuming articles about gamers.
This is what they do rather than write gaming guides.
Kotaku can't die fast enough.
What the fuck do you think a petition is going to do you fucking children
Seriously, stop opticscucking with petitions.
