I can't but admire the EU. It's a group of elites that can do anything with little to no accountability and no chance for people to vote their way out.

My advise, buy some cheep property somewhere in Eastern Europe as a backup. I know a guy from around Boston that bought a luxury apartment in Brasov Romania for like 150k. A lot of people there speak English as well so language is not a problem.
