Carpool. Take a friend to shop for back issues. Split the gas and buy twice as many books together.

In the highlands meat is pretty hard to get. The locals mostly eat taro and sweet potato, both of which are starchy root vegetables.

There is local meat in the jungle but it is mostly birds which are small and annoying to hunt.

The locals all raise pigs, which are expensive. Every family has a couple pigs, and they teach them to come when called for feeding.

Once or twice a year each family will kill their pig and have a party. Without refrigeration the pig must be eaten right away. Weddings are super expensive and involve a lot of pork.

As a result the locals are fairly protein starved. In the highlands they have been this way for evolutionary periods. It is to the point that they get sick if they eat too much meat.

When a stranger wanders in to a foreign territory, one of the first thigs that the locals think is: "Free protein!"

This has been slowly changing through access to canned meats (Spam, etc) and missionaries teaching such foreign concepts such as empathy and restraint.

Yes. It does taste good. Yes, it does taste like pork, which is their favorite food.

It is true. People who wear gaming shirts are all psychopaths who might explode into misogyny at any moment.

She was right to literally flee from them and then write a blog post about it.

The NT prison population is better than 95% aboriginals. They were all caught and convicted in a court of law. There have been several judicial reviews and the consensus is that NT judges are fair or even lenient towards aboriginal Australians.

There are massive, endemic problems in aboriginal communities with child rape, domestic violence, alcoholism and gambling addiction. There are massive problems with child neglect.

Right now there are huge problems with crime in the Northern Territory. Riots, break-ins, car theft, senseless vandalism, the list goes on. Want to know which demographic is overwhelmingly responsible for it?

Guess. Go on! Guess.

They learned the lesson of Multiplayer in the original Deus Ex. Multiplayer was a metric fuckton of work. No one wanted it.

And here we are again. Remember that the original Ion Storm went bust due to project bloat.

It won't work. The Women are Wonderful effect (ingroup bias) for women is stronger than any dose of reality.

Most women would literally rather die than be a 'gender traitor'.

I kind of admit, watching Console 'Tards claw their way towards self-awareness is slightly amusing.

This post is just gold. It amounts to: "Wait, it turns out a mechanic for console games that is aimed at dumbing down gameplay kind of sucks! Why would retards want this?"

All while failing to see that they are the problem. Dumbing down games to market them to 'Tards has been overwhelmingly successful. They are so close!

Heh. Whining like a peasant. That is amusing!

If you are going to recommend Choplifter, then you need Loadrunner. A brilliant mix of puzzle and reflexes.

Time for an old school LAN party.

UT 2004 is my top rated multiplayer FPS of all time. It was just so damn polished. I remember buying the UT GOTY then a year later seeing it for sale.

"How can they just sell it again? I just bought it!"

Then I played it. It was just outstanding. I wasn't even mad.

If you are going to put Bioshock on here, you really should put on System Shock and System Shock 2.

System Shock was remade in 2023 by Nightdive Studio. It is fantastically faithful to the OG System Shock. Shodan is one of the greatest villains ever written. She is 100% the inspiration for GLADOS.

System Shock 2 is still a great game. It is FPS action horror. I guess it is a little dated now, but it uses modern controls so it is playable. I am sure you can get mods to improve the graphics etc.

Also, X-Wing, TIE Fighter and X-Wing vs TIE Fighter were all outstanding games. They build on the lore from Star Wars and were a blast.

It is actually possible to kill a crippled Star Destroyer in one of the missions of X-Wing if you try hard enough. Normally their shields are immune to fighters, but this one has been sabotaged. See if you can take it out.

Harpoon 2 came out in 1994.

The current, modded version of Harpoon 2 is still the best naval fleet simulator of all time.

It is realistic enough to use for command training, and still lots of fun.

I'll just point out how many of those entire genres vanished once Console 'Tards vomited stupid all over games.

Master of Magic is turn based strategy, as was X-COM: UFO Defense

Eye of the Beholder was turn based RPG

Theme Park was an isometric builder

Warcraft Orcs and Humans was RTS

All gone as soon as the X-Box came out. Console 'Tards can't read and they only understand running and gunning. They only have ten buttons or so on their 'Tard 'Trollers. The attention span of a 'Tard is frighteningly short.

After the X-Box was proved to rake in the big bucks through 'Tard Tax, future development of AAA games was for 'Tard Boxes, then ported to PC.

It even happened to FPS games. Unreal Tournament 3 had 100 ms of lag baked directly into the network stack. It had fewer game modes and simpler, smaller maps. It was the worst of the series. It made the most money, because Console 'Tards got to play it for the first time.

Want the perfect case study? Deus Ex: Invisible War. In this sequel maps were reduced to the size of a phone booth. Maps and missions were made simple enough for 'Tards. Stealth was an ineffective afterthought. It made way more money than the original, ground breaking Deus Ex.

Console 'Tards ended the golden age of gaming. Then they fucked your mom.

Guy, do you know what a suspended sentence is?

A suspended sentence is a sentence in which the period of incarceration is suspended. In effect it is exactly like getting parole on day 0.

So as long as this woman keeps her sentence conditions (shows up to community service plus whatever else) she will not see a single day inside an actual prison.

My dad visited New Guinea in the 1970s. There were still cannibals in the highlands then. Heck, there were costal cannibals, who raided villages in boats.

There are probably still people who consume human flesh in the mountain highlands now, but only as part of funeral rituals or similar.

I really enjoy the Superheros genre and have been playing it since highschool.

GURPS doesn't do Superheros very well, which is fine.

I jumped onboard with Wild Talents first edition and have really enjoyed it.

Godlike, for gritty, alternate history WWII with superpowers, is amazing. The One Roll Engine is really very quick.

It also works well in StarORE (ORE Star Wars) and Reign, which is fantastically scalable from a single character to a kingdom or an army.

It frustrated the heck out of me that people only want to play D&D. The system sucks and until milestones there was a single advancement mechanic. Combat.

GURPS is great. I love it. It is the preverbal kitchen sink RPG ruleset.

GURPS Lite is on of my favorite lightweight rulesets. I like GURPS can do everything between rules light and super-complex just by picking how many of the rules you want to use.

I like EarthDawn for Fantasy / Horror. I enjoy Reign by Greg Stolze. Both of them are vastly superior to D&D.

6
DemolitionsPanda 6 points ago +6 / -0

The issue is that D&D is not the sum total of TTRPG.

TTRPGs were one of the first casualties of the culture war. Many publishers and much of the industry fell to woke-tards.

It hasn't made any difference at all at the table level. TTRPG players are fantastically fractious and if the don't like something they just ignore it. Once they have their books they don't need anything else. They can (and frequently do) write entire settings and only use Rules Reference Documents, which are cheap as fuck or free.

I stopped playing D&D in 2003. There are so many better settings and systems. I'll talk about what and why if anyone cares.

Well, one thing I am sure of is that Mossad knows exactly how close the Iranians are to finishing the bomb. It is surely a part of the calculus as to when and how hard Israel retaliates.

The day you forget to point out my massive faggotry is the day you won't be allowed to come back

I love you too, bro. In a manly, not gay way. Like a brother. <3
