We’re working on our next game update, Patch 7, which will add improved evil endings to the game for even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs, and yes, that includes you non-Durge players.
I suppose this is good news, but I also bet it's because the bulk of the playerbase finally finished the game ( As if it was that difficult to do ) a lot of the positive reviews were based on Act 1 or Act 2 and people hadn't even gotten to Act 3 yet which is a piss take. They're admitting now the hype has died down they had an unfinished game on their hands and now they seem to be finishing it.
Baldur's Gate 3 is a great example of why steam metrics are worth jack shit in terms of research and marketing purposes. Any honest reviews get drowned out by fanbois and spam or bots reposting shitty memes and bumping each other up. The whole site has turned into a reddit clone with blatant shills covering for each other.
I don't know who I'm defending here. Not Larian. Maybe the right to just experience a game and not thirst over every trailer or EA.
That's fine. I love plenty of games that are Woke or even downright bad. In fact, I dare say a lot of Woke games are downright fun, great games too. Hades 2 is currently dominating my freetime, and according to most people its the Wokiest Woke ever.
But we also can't just ignore those things or argue "well its complex and nuanced and not that big a deal and missing context" when its the games we love either.
Larian's attitude is one thing.
People should not be going into a role playing video game, role playing some sexual degeneracy, then complaining that the "DM" is woke for letting them do it. If an RPG had no gayness but the gayness you (generic you) RP it wouldn't be woke at all. You'd just be gay.
As an aside, I'm sure as simulations get more and more real, issues of how animals fuck will come up. I don't see anything wrong with simulating that. I wouldn't censor it, generically. Though if you wanted your game to maintain a rating/audience you might censor yourself.
Considering, from my understanding, they had to patch out the fact that your companions will try to fuck you very forwardly, seemingly just by people trying to be friendly with them, I think there was more going on than people RPing their way into it.
Regardless, by the standards most people here crucify other games for, if the content is in the game period its woke and trash. Even if you can just not engage with it. BG3 doesn't get to be an exception because there is a good game you love mixed in with it.
Ok just for the record, I like BG3 well enough to play it. Which means a lot more than most games. So I won't say I don't like it, however, "love" I think is strong. It is deeply flawed. I just like that kind of RPG. There aren't just a crapload of choices at least as far as AAA stuff.
I heard Rogue trader is woke. I was gonna play that, too; I'm not letting people ruin it for me. Just independently. People can say whatever they want; I'm just not listening -- until I play it.
