• Frog is a furry. It's a curse, not a fetish, bigot.
• Robo is a sex robot.
• Ayla is flat-bodied and covered in fur, from neck to feet.
• Marle is arabic.
• Crono is an abusive, thieving, incompetent coward with low impulse control and everyone hates him. They call him "the orange-haired bastard."
• Lavos is no longer a malevolent alien force, the god of the outsiders, that is bent on destroying life as we know it, for its own selfish needs. Now she/them is a force for inclusion, universal equity and strength through diversity.
• The main villain of the story, obviously, is Crono, who uses time travel as a means of escaping the current year, furious that people like him are no longer running his country and wallowing in the nostalgia of other people's former glories.
• The localizers will be put in charge of the writing. The character art will, obviously, have to be redone, to conform to modern sensibilities and it will be done by anonymous doodlers from Tumblr.
Queen Zeal is presented as a thoughtful centrist with an entirely reasonable approach to the Earthbound Ones, who were thrown out of the kingdom after an attempted insurrection.
I would unironically love a game like this if it were both fun and written as a satire. I can't believe we haven't gotten a really decent game that skewers Modern Audiences yet. I think it'd make a killing. There are a few, but they're all Unity shovelware that belongs on Newgrounds.
Don't do it. But if you must, do not include ANY ties to Cross. Insisting on tying that bad ending to Trigger's triumphant conquest of fate will sour the entire experience.
The only thing I can think of without ruining the game is maybe a graphics toggle like D2 resurrected. So people can enjoy the original, or switch to higher resolution pixel art if they want.
But that's absolutely frivilous. How about no remake instead?
If it's like D2 Resurrected, then they'll need to add 20-30 years to every character. Ayla will be an old hag with saggy breasts and missing half her teeth.
They remade it twice already, and gave it a second game, Chrono Cross.
The last time people asked about it, it didn't sell well enough for a sequel, or wasn't popular enough for a sequel. I forget which. Felt like a slap in the face considering it was re-released on the PS1 and the DS.
I don't care about Chrono Trigger anymore, if they're willing to write off a huge part of their history like that.
No more remakes. What’s next a Pong remake? With an intro warning that the white paddle used historically may be insensitive to people of other races and the ability to change your paddle to represent any letter of the faggot alphabet.
Well, take inspiration from the graphic improvements of FFVII remake and stop taking inspiration from them right fucking there.
Better yet, forget FFVII remake entirely. You could simply remake it in its fantastic cartoonish style, but with improved graphics. Don't shit it up. Don't bother trying if the original fans don't say they absolutely love the updated sprites.
DON'T FUCK WITH THE GAMEPLAY,
DON'T MESS WITH THE STORY, and
DON'T MESS WITH THE CHARACTERS.
Faithfully adapt their appearance.
Maby add a ''difficult'' setting for the gameplay, and balance the cost/effectiveness of Techs/Spells.
Chrono Trigger already has a troon/crossdresser in there.
Edit : InB4 they turn the redhead black.
I'm still very salty about everything the devs did wrong with the Lufia II remake. It's not even the same type of game. The original's puzzles and gameplay were very good. The remake was shit and boring. The new characters' faces and expressions were ugly/creepy.
The English localization for Selan ( maby the OV too, IDK ), was butchered by a feminist too. At first how they did ''Tsundere Tia'' was promissing, but it quickly became ''meh''. Like someone who didn't know the difference between tsundere and girlboss had too much input into it. And then the ''bumbling idiot save me oh no I'm so sobby sorry'' drama dialogs was cringe.
The re-interpretation of the main story was BAD. The side-story of the two crown thieves was good ( but the original's was good too, so why change it? ).
I'd want everything to stay the same but the story. I played a bit into it with the Japanese version(my Japanese is still not up to snuff but getting there) and quite a bit is different. Knowing the state of translations today it would turn out like shit. I don't even mind frog sounding like he ate a book on Shakespeare, I just want some of them Nintendo of America censorship out like what was in the SNES version. Other than that literally don't change anythin, even though I have my minor gripes with the SNES version I still think it is one of the best games out there.
No Shakespeare speech, general language is the same... Ish. But mentions of religion or alcohol at the time got changed since Nintendo of America did not like to have those mentioned to kids. Chrono Trigger is still similar in the Japanese with just some changes. Language in general is different from English so obvouisly there's differences too numerous to mention. My main issue is the Nintendo of America changes for me, I find those odd.
Oh I see, yeah they were pretty strict with games at the time.
Thanks. Btw your comment inspired me to look for the details myself and I found these gamefaqs that might be useful to you/someone:
Also found the whole script on someone's blog but the ridiculous page color makes it impossible to read. I would have to extract all this to a text file first to make use of it.
Don't do whatever the hell they did for the Final Fantasy Collection or Pixel Remaster to make it look like mobile garbage, but otherwise just leave it alone.
There's absolutely no way to improve on Chrono Trigger, but if they insist on remaking it then going the Final Fantasy 7 remake route might produce a decent game.
I'd be happier with a Chrono Cross remake that was slightly less experimental and more like a sequel. Too many fucking characters with next to no real story relevancy. CT is already pretty perfect.
• Magus is trans.
• Lucca is a lesbian of color.

No. It’s a perfect game. Don’t remake it.
I find 16-bit sprites age much better than 8bit and 64-bit (especially the early 3D polygons).
That said, if they did like the Tomb Raider remakes and just improved the quality of graphics & music but in the same style that might be alright.
This is the exact reason the Metal Slug series still looks as amazing as it does.
Agreed. That generation had the full color palette and just enough resolution that good 2D graphics from that era are timeless.
Meanwhile the early 3-D from PS1/N64 mostly aged horribly.
What about just adding widescreen support, high framerate, and adding a few more frames of animation to the original sprites?
Another remake, how original. Maybe they can get SBI to do some consulting
Don't do it. But if you must, do not include ANY ties to Cross. Insisting on tying that bad ending to Trigger's triumphant conquest of fate will sour the entire experience.
They forced it into the DS game. They'll do it again.
I still remember how pissed I was when, after you finished the new postgame content, Dalton showed up...
And then they should remake Cross with all the ties to Trigger cut out.
CC taking place in a remote corner of the CT world would have been enough to explain that.
1:1 remake. No graphical updates. No changes to outfits for modern sensibilities. No character motivation alterations. No "updates" to localizations.
Squeenix has re-sold FF1, like, 7 times. You'd think they'd be good at it by this point.
I want smoother movement. That is it.
The only thing I can think of without ruining the game is maybe a graphics toggle like D2 resurrected. So people can enjoy the original, or switch to higher resolution pixel art if they want.

I still can't believe they made the Amazon class a fucking tranny.
What do i want in a remake? You to keep your filthy, money grubbing fingers off chrono trigger and go fuck yourself, squeeenix.
If you're going to remake something, try a game with obvious flaws that could be fixed.
How about another crack at Crono Cross/Radical Dreamers?
They remade it twice already, and gave it a second game, Chrono Cross.

Hollywood remakes the same movies over and over again. Even Dune.
Increase the frame rate a bit. The lower fps games are harder to look at. It doesn't mean add shit other than adding frames for existing work.
That is all.

No, no remaster, nothing. They can't be trusted.
Just make a new game...or a new series. How do you make 354329853 Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games, but can't come up with another Chrono type?
I'd want everything to stay the same but the story. I played a bit into it with the Japanese version(my Japanese is still not up to snuff but getting there) and quite a bit is different. I never played the Japanese version. What are some of the biggest differences?
