Something else that concerns me: he is completely and utterly insular.

I've had conversations over the years with "famous" people in the academic world. One of the good things about academia is how accessible they are. I credit Dr. Warren Farrell with giving me the last kick I needed to get out of my shitty grad program a decade ago. I sent him an essay and he responded within a few hours.

Peterson? His website and email both basically tell you to get fucked. Too many emails, too many voices, no chance to respond to anything. I tested this (with a very well thought out question from a serious point of inquiry, something that shouldn't get ignored) and got ignored.

So you may be on to something here.

ETA: For a while now, I've kind of given up hope in JP. Every once in a while he comes out and says something smart, but it feels so much more... accidental these days.

I say what I am about to say as an unrepentant fan of Jordan Peterson... at least the Jordan Peterson that once existed 7 or 8 years ago at the height of his popularity.

I honestly don't recognize the dude now. The years of drug abuse / stress have worn him down. He seems to have gotten stuck in a half-measure... he speaks the truth but still holds out hope Canada will pull its head out of its own ass, or (even worse) that there is some baby you don't want to throw out with the bath water of liberalism.

The truth is staring us in the face: Jordan's daughter is a useless thot who has no idea what she is doing. She should have never done anything with Andrew Tate. That isn't strictly because I hate him, either, it's just that his theories are completely at odds with what Peterson himself believes.

I could write an entire essay on what I mean by that, but I will try to sum it up quickly: Jordan and Andrew look at the masculinity problem differently. Jordan's early work was on building prosocial habits of masculinity that lead to building the necessary skills required to be a successful man. Andrew has always focused on the surface-levels "hacks" to appear to be masculine (not unlike the Pick Up Artists of old).

Jordan and anyone close to him should have been calling him out as a grifter from day 1.

Jordan's biggest problem is that his daughter is now an anchor on everything he worked to build.

It is a really difficult conundrum because there isn't a man alive with his level of frame control.

Lesser men would be constantly derailed by the bullshit and the attacks, but not him.

He is not perfect by any means, but he is the tool we have and the tool we need.

Everything depends on not only winning the election, but building a future of the MAGA movement that can sustain itself beyond Trump. The movement is a success when it exists beyond Trump, and we are not there yet.

That's right. She probably ignored 40 third world men harassing her the entire time and forgot about it before encouraging you to bring the entire neighborhood here.

You don't understand, that latte at the train station proved they are all hard working people who need to live in America or else.

If you want to understand the left:

Think of "the left" as a 20-something white girl who had one positive experience in a shithole in the 20 minutes she was there.

Because of that 20 minutes we have to live with importing that whole neighborhood (or country!) and deal with all the crime and incompatibility.

Wait until you realize the Dems aren't being inconsistent, they just assume every black person is in the system and therefore this won't apply to them.

22
thepalagoon 22 points ago +22 / -0

Nah, it won't.

Black people exist.

They can definitely get IDs, they aren't stupid, but a vast preponderance of them are illiterate.

Maybe I am a fool but I think this is still the breaking point. It would be too easy to bring the whole thing down with "your honor, my client was not able to consent to the terms and conditions because they are illiterate."

It just warms my heart to think the globalists are retarded because they never account for the morons

Might as well be the Philippines. They speak English well enough there, if nothing else.

I've long thought that our enemies are much more desperate than they let on. Where are we now?

-The economy is such a scam right now that even normies see it. Alarm bells really started to go off when the media tried to make 'Bidenomics' a thing. They're actively trying to prop up the economy to make it look good, and they're succeeding by only the loosest of definitions.

-They're opening breaking tradition and decorum and waging in lawfare to further their aims. They got their conviction, but soon when it's overturned they'll be opening themselves up to libel/slander to say he's a 'convicted felon.'

-There are no young faces that strike any sort of fear into my heart. Hakeem Jeffries? AOC? Any of the fresh fit-for-HR faces that keep filling low-level Dem seats? L.O.L. Feinstein died clinging to her seat and Pelosi will too because there's no one else and they're addicted to their corrupt power. Just today I saw an article about how Bob Melendez is running as an Independent. It's comical at this point how desperate he is to cling to power, futile as it is.

-They're not even attempting to offer flimsy explanations for their stupid policies anymore. They're just doing the stupid shit in our faces at an accelerated pace and barely paying attention to the media narrative. The normies are seeing it at this point, too.

-Biden is really pathetic - really unbelievably so at this point. The fact the party is yoked to him is a tragic result of their corrupt leadership and our broken system. I hope they choke on him.

These are not the calm, cool, and collected actions of an entity feeling any sense of control. There's an air of desperation to it all.

But the flip side of that: desperate people do desperate things.

I know I'm injecting myself into a sarcastic exchange, so just note that I'm not taking sides in a pissing match.

I don't think it's fair to compare unions in Europe to unions in the US. I don't know enough about unions in Europe, but I've heard they do actually still serve some valuable functions.

In the US they are completely aimless. Every union I can think of is a waste of time or a net negative -- the Teacher's Union is a significant contributor to the horrible state of education in America, for instance. The last union I was forced to join spent all of their resources helping shitty employees keep their jobs -- when I brought I legitimate complaint to the union (I was denied leave), the union rep told me 'I hope you don't think it's my job to listen to you complain.'

(I did the legwork and got my boss to say "if the union says you can have that leave, you can have that leave' and then the union said no. Fuck unions in the US. They serve to create acrimonious relationships between employers and employees and have the primary effect of protecting bad employees.)

I'm gonna try to keep this brief... I could easily hit the character limit if I tried.

There are multiple factors at play here.

Yes, freed slaves started at an enormous disadvantage. This disadvantage was further stretched out by actual systemic racism throughout the US Southeast (I highlight this because they claim the US today is no better than Jim Crow, which is factually absurd).

If you look at demographic statistics, US Blacks were actually close to finally catching up with whites in the 60s. This helps put MLK Jr's speech in context -- blacks had, for the most part, arrived in American society and demanded to be treated as such.

Then came feminism. And the Civil Rights Act. And Welfare. And then no-fault divorce. And the skyrocketing single parent rate (which is really the root of all this). And now yadda yadda yadda we are where we are.

Blacks did get shafted, but not by whites. They got shafted by the powers that be in Washington determined to keep them in the underclass of society.

To the overall point -- I just believe blacks are better than this. It's easy to say "this is just who they are, and this is who they are throughout history and in every other place they've ever been." -- from a certain perspective, this isn't a horrible take, and I can respect that (even if I disagree with it).

But nothing ever gets better unless personal responsibility comes into play. Regardless of the reason(s), blacks are where they are right now. And there's no magical solution that fixes it. Conditions can (and really ought to) get better, but it's still incumbent on them to climb out of that hole.

They almost did once. Go watch the "I have a dream" speech again. See if that crowd isn't full of people you'd be proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with as brothers.

I often said Imp wasn't neccessarily wrong, but he went about what he was doing in a much-too-caustic way.

I mostly liked talking to him, to be totally honest. I have the problem of considering other view points a bit too much sometimes, and he has the exact opposite problem.

I mean we are, what, a decade removed from an entire plane vanishing at the exact point when it was between radar towers.

I dunno if that plane did actually crash in the Indian Ocean, but I certainly don't believe all the coincidences that would need to happen for that to occur organically.

thepalagoon 21 points ago +21 / -0

Beware of any indian who gets involved in "social justice" -- they are psychos who get off on the power it affords them.

Look at how powerful she felt telling people she would murder them.

Fuck around, meet finding out.

Yeah...

Israel is certainly not a "good guy" -- and Hamas definitely isn't a "good guy" either. Ergo, I don't care.

I enjoy cannabis and I'm definitely not a left wing idiot. But that's also why for the 5 years I lived in Asia -- I didn't use any. Respect the country where you live -- it is a very simple thing that most westerners don't understand.

0
thepalagoon 0 points ago +1 / -1

And you are describing perfectly what Israel is doing. And it's disappointing to see people like Joe Rogan starting to call it a genocide.

Well, you know what? What Israel is doing might be a genocide, but it's the Palestinians' fault because they're doing what you describe - hiding among the civilians. Israel made the choice that they won't be stopped by that fact, and a lot of civilians are getting butchered.

But those civilians voted for and support Hamas, so... FAFO?

Either way, I don't have a side in this and it shouldn't involve me.

The Wokeydokes!

Ah, I kind of love that.

6
thepalagoon 6 points ago +6 / -0

Fuck.

I actually believe this. It is never the obvious people you imagine it is. Even Epstein, guilty as he was, got his bankroll and marching orders from somewhere.

7
thepalagoon 7 points ago +7 / -0

It should not be this complicated.

Every other country in the world enforces their borders more tightly than ours. I actually went through the process of applying for and renewing a visa to live abroad, and I fully expected to be deported (or, at best, lose my job) if I stopped following the law.

I understand with the way courts and laws work that is has to be done this way, but it is beyond frustrating when the underlying issue is the Federal Government actively aiding and abetting our enemies. There isn't a great remedy because that is a somewhat subjective opinion (the government can say it is trying and failing, which is not technically illegal).

3
thepalagoon 3 points ago +3 / -0

These types follow the same heuristic:

If a source agrees with their opinion, post it everywhere and rely on it, regardless of the quality of the data or the conflicts of interest.

If a source disagrees with their opinion, it is fake news.

thepalagoon 10 points ago +10 / -0

For real. And if you ever try to talk sense into a cult member you end up falling into that meme of patrick starr and his wallet:

"So we agree that the shots never stopped you from getting infected?"

"Yup."

"And we agree that the shots never stopped transmission in a meaningful way?"

"Yup."

"And we agree that governments pushed the shots under the pretense the shots would prevent infection and stop transmission?"

"Yup."

"And we agree that even if you were up to date on your shots you could still get sick and die?"

"Yup."

"So all the mandates were completely pointless and the shots themselves were worthless at best."

"Well actually the shots were very valuable in reducing the severity of illness. I am so glad we have them and fuck dirty antivaxxers."

Every. Single. Time.
