A proxy war with China would look much different than Ukraine/Russia.

I hope it doesn't come to that anyway.

Defending Taiwan is important but I never could support a draft or measures like that to meet recruitment targets.

Things have to change. We need to meet recruitment targets some other way.

The most important thing would be to discourage China from invading Taiwan in the first place.

An invasion of Taiwan would be disastrous.

Deterring China from invading Taiwan should be the focus of U.S.'s China policy.

The group we call Trump supporters is much different than the smaller group of Trump 2024ers that we find online.

Trump supporters generally like both Trump and DeSantis but just happen to prefer one candidate over the other for 2024. Trump supporters and DeSantis supporters easily get along.

On the other hand online Trump 2024ers just vehemently hate DeSantis because some of us don't want to run Trump again.

Online Trump 2024ers are being too aggressively obnoxious and they are doing a disservice to their cause by emulating Trump and constantly using childish nicknames to denigrate all those that disagree with them.

Taiwan is key to American national interests unlike Ukraine.

The U.S. definitely doesn't want China to have full control of the Pacific shipping lanes.

Letting China take Taiwan freely is just disastrous for the U.S.'s national interests.

This scenario is nothing like Ukraine.

Protecting Taiwan is something that is truly crucial in the balance of power against China.

Preventing war is generally a good thing but letting China of all countries have free reign in Asia in order to prevent a war is beyond stupid.

China is an actual humongous threat that needs to be treated as such.

The media will frame such stances as isolationism and it will hurt in the general.

Saying you would let China takeover Taiwan without any pushback is not the boon you think it to be in a general election.

That is a repulsive position to many voters like me who despise China.

Taiwan must not be abandoned to China.

This is a terrible policy position.

Trump's stance on immigration, the open Supreme court seat and his promises to drain the swamp won him 2016.

Foreign policy will never be the biggest issue in any recent election but taking repulsive positions like abandoning Taiwan will hurt you.

Most Americans sadly parrot what the media says.

The media is always pro-war.

Taking an isolationist stance will not give you the massive boost you imagine it to give.

Being isolationist helps in the primaries but it arguably will even hurt you in the general election because "educated" voters parrot the media's stances.

It is what it is.

I forgot that Trumpers like you cannot stand any dissent about your lord and savior.

I am open to discussion anytime.

Ok let's imagine DeSantis does this and Trump becomes the nominee in 2024 and he loses in 2024 to Biden.

Trump 2024ers will then tell us that it is still Trump's turn in 2028 and that Ron must wait for 2032. You guys will keep pushing Trump until he is dead of old age. Then you will pivot to pushing the even more obnoxious Kari Lake after Trump passes away.

Fuck waiting for a turn and fuck asking for your permission to run.

DeSantis should run in 2024 and we will let the people decide instead.

Trump hired people like Bolton, Wray, Adams and Pence.

This is not a man who has incredible Intel on anyone.

Trump attacks DeSantis with bullshit accusations for one reason. DeSantis is the biggest obstacle to winning the primary.

Trump deserves no loyalty when he himself is not loyal to his earliest supporters. He endorsed Mastriano in PA over Barletta because Mastriano yelled stolen election way more.

That was disgraceful.

This is not a man who values loyalty. This is a man who expects loyalty from other people but will never practice it

Loyalty is for your family and your country's Constitution not to an arrogant 78 year old.

There is no fucking way Trump will/can end the war in one day.

This is just another grandiose statement pulled out from his ass.

Foreign policy is never the most important issue in any election let alone the primaries.

Using the term "Meatball Ron" shows us you are incredibly cringe and that you parrot Trump.

Trump 2024ers like you keep claiming foreign policy is the most important issue because it is the one area where Trump has skill in.

Trump's chances of winning the primary won't magically shoot up due to his foreign policy.

onetruephilosoraptor -1 points ago +4 / -5

DeSantis has never said that statement.

Trump 2024 is a DOA campaign. We will see if Trump can save his dignity and lose in the primary and avoid a crushing loss to Biden but he is guaranteed to lose in the general if he wins the primary.

Bolton should have NEVER been part of the cabinet of anyone who says they are anti-war.

You have no leg to stand on when it comes to attempting to tie Bolton to DeSantis as an attempt to shill for Trump 2024.

Trump hired him. If you think you can play the guilt by association only for DeSantis, you are mistaken.

Trump's 2016/2020 donors include plenty of people who are despised by the right.

Look at the actual thread where it shows you who said what. It shows that Adam Kinzinger, David Frum, Bill Kristol, David French, Jonah Goldberg, Max Boot, Jennifer Rubin, the Lincoln Clown Project's Rick Wilson and Galen Reed are all openly seething over DeSantis's statements.

This list of neo-cons who are mad are all of the worst neocons from the 2000s.

I think DeSantis can win White male "moderate suburbanites". The women will never vote GOP but we definitely have ample room to grow with educated White men as long as Trump is not the nominee.

Most educated people generally believe Trump is beneath them intellectually due to his constant stupid outbursts so winning back the suburbs is out of reach for him.

Mark Davis is right on the money. Trump supercharges leftist turnout more than he supercharges rural turnout. We instalose the suburbs with Trump. His obnoxiousness hurts us a lot more than it helps.

I pray that Trump is not the nominee because if he is the nominee it sadly guarantees a second Biden term.

My guess is Trump is actually scared of losing the nomination and feels threatened enough to make these pathetic attacks before DeSantis even gets in the race.

Youngkin won in VA because Terry McAuliffe made a huge gaffe a few weeks before the election saying parents don't have a right to choose their child's education.

Youngkin also has the vibes of a sweater vest Suburban dad "reasonable Republican" and that helped him win.

I think Youngkin is the best we can do in terms of electability in statewide Virginia but we can do so much better nationwide.

Why would anyone who doesn't want Trump choose Youngkin when we have Ron DeSantis?

DeSantis is electable and strong on the issues.

Youngkin is electable but weak on key issues.

onetruephilosoraptor 17 points ago +19 / -2

Youngkin won't ever even win the nomination if he does this.

He is clearly too weak on important cultural issues.

The base doesn't want a milquetoast mild mannered guy like Youngkin who mainly focuses on tax cuts for corporations.

I want an electable candidate for 2024 but I want that candidate to be strong on policy. Youngkin has failed that test.

Rand Paul will sadly never win a Presidential campaign because he is too libertarian. I really like the guy.

He is also seen as too mild mannered and seen as too milquetoast by the base so he can't win the nomination. The base is too addicted to candidates who "fight".

The right overturned Roe through decades of perseverance and by slowly appointing constitutionalist judges.

It took 49 years to overturn Roe?

Do you want to lose the Supreme Court for a generation and have the Dems codify endless abortions nationwide?

That is what we will get if our politicians running for the Presidency are stupid enough to pass a 6 week heartbeat bill.

6 weeks abortion bans are heavily unpopular nationwide.

I am pro-life but I realize that we cannot achieve anything if we lose all of our future elections by pushing too hard too fast on abortion restrictions.

DeSantis has already come out against the blogger bill. He will likely come out against the criminalizing bill.

If Conservative voters won't even bother voting in 2024 then it is already over.

Why would you stay home and let the Democrats easily fuck you with no lube?

Voting is so effortless. Doesn't matter if you think it is rigged, all conservatives must do it anyway.
