its weird in the UK there are some soy distilleries (i think brewdog is scottish and thus from the UK) but the majority of the smaller ones have been around for decades, their beers are only really found in the area local to the brewery (I don't think I have seen any blue monkey outside of derbyshire) usually only found in propper pubs (many in the arse end of nowhere) that your soys don't go to (because all the chain pubs just bulk by the mass-produced shite) and are family owned and ran

I don't have them myself but it is on bakabt if you have an account on there from before it went private (there is a way to get a new account apparently https://wiki.bakabt.me/index.php/Sign_up )

you might be able to borrow it from the internet archive here https://archive.org/details/starwarsnewhope00tama/page/n1/mode/2up but i'm not 100% how that system works

apparently its the same artist that did the manga for dirty pair (and there seems to be very little information on him at that)

no there was a semi-comedic manga of the original film done sometime in the 90s

https://bakashots.me/fMMcOwC0HGslK7fDfF1K

there was also a collection of stories done around 2005 that are more comedic and feature darth vader and R2-D2 duking it out https://bakashots.me/ivrbOwC0HGbBlk9nr7dd=

although sometimes you get manga where the official English release is flipped

look at the star wars manga you open it up at the back like you would with a normal manga and its like "no stop read it "normally" we took the liberty of flipping this shit"

i think part of the issue with crunchyroll is not much of the money is even making its way back to japan

its paying for a bunch of woke retards to do what is essentially a cultural "man in the middle" attack on the translations and shit animation original projects that go nowhere

iirc every member state pays money into the EU

this is probably more like a refund?

religions should do what they want to do regards their own marriage and marriage-like systems governments should only interfere when its fucked up (child marriages)

all a government should do regards marriage is have the protections for married people that most countries already have and if they want to extend those protections to same sex couples I don't have much to complain about

the problem is when the governments force the religions to accept the gay and/or the gay just keeps being a bunch of promiscuous freaks

I had a gay co-worker once who hated the gay community and called pride inane faggotry hes probably in his 60s or 70s now so he was probably involved in a lot of the early gay rights stuff before it became the freakshow it is today

there are very very few fansub groups out there now those that do exist are going through a dwindling backlog of really really obscure anime released once on laserdisc during a blue moon on a freezing day in July

most of the stuff released on the bootleg websites (nya.si etc) is just ripped from the western localiser (Crunchyroll netflix etc) so those versions are very much at the whims of whatever chucklefuck does the subs

I agree with him that adults shouldn't be watching cartoons

eeeh if the western entertainment industry had gone full in on animated works like japan has people would probably not think this as much

different cultures and all

there is a fair amount of anime out there that is not for children and I don't just mean in a "there's fucking boobs everywhere" sense, I mean in a "theres violence and the series tackles adult themes" sense or just that children won't understand it

although really i can't think of many recent examples... things like paranoia agent or serial experiments lain and possibly jormungand

so i had a look at recent sci-fi and the only shows i can see that appear to focus on the sci-fi and are also not fan service delivery systems are Gundam the witch from mercury and Legend of the Galactic Heroes Die Neue These

everything else is either chock full of magical bullshit with only some slight "woo future sci fi" background elements or are pure fan service machines or both

5
kxitx 5 points ago +6 / -1

yeah the majority of anime that gets posted on more public forums like twatter are your high school anime, harems or isekais with all the fan service sliders set to maximum

what does not get posted about much are your more serious series because they do not tend to have the most "out there" scenes

for example, the entire Gundam franchise can be serious and brutal when it wants to be (but I have yet to really come across a character death that felt cheap there have been a few that shocked me but never cheap) and has a pretty strong anti-war/war bad angle to it most of the time (oh and don't watch victory Gundam that one was... well there's a scene where bikini warriors attack a ship and get wiped out, legend has it that Tomino didn't want to make victory Gundam so he made it very silly - giant motorbike fortresses anyone?)

planetes is a 5 minutes in the future speculative science fiction show about mans first steps in colonising space and dealing with Kessler syndrome and mostly follows a space garbage disposal team

legend of the galactic heroes shows an interstellar war from both sides of the conflict never letting you really feel like one side is good and one side is bad but more that there are good and bad people on both sides of the conflict

pretty much anything by Makoto Shinkai will emotionally destroy you with no fan service just good writing, animation, art direction, music and voice acting

as for the entire cartoon thing, anime is drawings and the only thing that really limits what you can make with that is your imagination, and the quality of the drawings and animations is mostly dictated by the budget

live action has more moving parts (set dressing, costumes, effects etc.), and most live-action Japanese tv dramas I have seen have this amateur feel to them (the NHK taiga dramas do tend to be very good though) I think there's just more focus on anime so the live action stuff is usually used the fast and cheap option (a fast and cheap anime will just look bad in basically every way and not have the best VAs)

there are some great live-action films from japan though pretty much anything by Akira Kurosawa is a classic but made before anime really kicked off, more recently though the only "top quality" film I am aware of is unforgiven (a remake of a western but set in early Meiji era japan)

I just wish isekai fantasy would fuck off so we can go back to some great sci-fi

slightly more accurate to the book adaption you say?

may I interest you in an anime? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-A-cXgIm38

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjrz7_y3nGA&list=PLrPVT5RfI89fEc40nxx7NgaFevnZykjyr

its not completely accurate to the book but its a bit more faithful than the film

so a few years ago i came across this video going over bionicle lore and stuff

i watched it cause i liked the boncles when i was a lad but i didn't really pay much attention to the lore outside of the two online flash games in the original setting

was a pretty good video turns out bionicle had a decent amount of lore I wasn't aware of and the probably late teenage (do I say man or boy for someone in their late teens? they were male anyway) was quite good at the presentation

few months ago it turns up again and i watch it again and i then check to see what they had done recently

i click on a random video and it looks like they have ground out their hair and then they start talking in a very strange voice and mention about how they haven't put makeup on

ohshitwhathaveyoudonemydude.jpg

so fearing the worst and hoping they had only gone and joined a powermetal band I click on another video and am greeted by the insane visage of a madman in womans clothing with makeup plastered all over their face, for some reason the tip of their nose was black like i dunno trying to look like an animal? the eyes were just overdone it was obscene

well says I was going to watch more of this persons work i did like the boncle video but it would appear he is clinically insane and has gone and chopped his penis off

i think i had a point when i started writing this but tl;dr found a decent video on thing from childhood found video a few years later and it seems in that time the creator of the video went insane

that was the plan, Guillermo del toro wanted to make only two films but the studio executives demanded 3 because they wanted another trilogy

thing is while having a monarchy is kind of silly it is a rather large piece of english history and culture you remove that and you remove a lot of what ties us to our forebears

that being said unless something huge happens (ie the next in line to the throne gets based AF) I can't see even the most hardline monarchists supporting what is to come and queen Elizabeth the second may as well have been our last monarch because the culture vampires are about to fuck it right up because the current king and the next few heirs have been well and truly globohomo'd

iirc its gaelic football so kinda different i guess

and yes its a tranny

that balding 30 odd year old man is a "woman"

i don't think they will "find" everything they wanted to "find" because the security cameras were not turned off

I guarantee that if the cameras had been turned off the FBI would have "found" exactly what the democrats needed

if they had gone with 6 films (each book in half part 1 part 2) they could have probably fit everything in

only problem is it would probably take 3 days to watch all the extended editions of the films

films are at a disadvantage when it comes to adapting existing stories because they can only be so long (bring back the intermission i say) and i think that is why in japan in the 90s at least OVAs were so big, you had a story it was too big for a film but probably too small for a TV series (or not enough budget) so they made 3-6 hour long episodes instead

thing is in another thread the japanese version still references the fact that he was only raised as a girl because of some village law against same sex twins and he wants to be seen as a manly man

this is the localisers performing a culture man-in-the-middle attack
