As I have seen it start to be put: Canadians aren’t nice, they are just passive-aggressive.

There was a Canadian YouTuber I was listening to recently that straight up said that while he used to use it as a “we are better than you” point, he is now envious of how actively aggressive most Americans are. Because it means that they will usually fight back against things like MAID, and it’s hard to get stuff like that federally. Meanwhile, Canadians don’t because they don’t want to rock the boat (that is an American trait after all), and their government is set up in such a way that Ontario, Toronto, and Vancouver set the tone for the entire country whether they like it or not.

you get murdered by doctors who are just following the orders of bureaucrats that blow out your fucking lungs with a ventilator at max air pressure.

The worse thing is: They didnt even know. My family is friends with a local doctor who was actually trained by the company on how to use ventilators, and when he realized that there was pretty minor Covid outbreaks in our area, he decided to go to New York City to help out. After all, he is an expert in that field, so his skill would obviously be appreciated.

When he got there, he was horrified to discover they were running the ventilators on entirely the wrong settings and, like they are now admitting, effectively killing the patients who were on them. He tried his best to fix that but ultimately ended up leaving after the bureaucrats running the hospitals refused to believe him when he told them they were cause more suffering than they were preventing.

Kyiv is still Ukrainian and I don't see Russian tanks rolling into Finland. Putin lost!

I mean, yeah?

Is it total victory to lose part of your nation to an invading force? Of course not. But when the enemy is there with the goal of total conquest and they take on a fraction of it, and not even the most important parts of your nation (like Odessa, which will allow Ukraine to remain a viable nation instead of a rump state), then stopping them is a win.

And unlike Finland before them in 1939, Russia will not get a second bite at the apple (well, third bite, but still). Because you know damn well Ukraine is going to become a NATO member or will be in some sort of European defense alliance by another name. Unlike Finland who was left to dangle in the breeze until Germany threw some minor stuff at it when it invaded Russia.

Ukraine is running low on men to keep fighting

So is Russia. And we have started seeing more surrenders and defections in their ranks. As well as more oligarchs back in Russia proper starting to say openly Putin fucked up.

I am not going to pretend like Ukraine has it in the bag. They can still run out of steam here at the end. I just think the odds they win are higher than they dont at this point (especially as they are now getting access to cruise missiles). And even if they lose, they will not be eaten by Russia, Russia gets only Donbass out of it (which is already depopulated as the Russians used them as cannon fodder), and you damn well Ukraine will become a NATO member while Russia is in no position to stop it.

It looks like Ukraine is gearing up for its counter offensive. Depending on how well that goes, we will see which of us is right in the end.

That is very much true. They also fell extremely far behind on the gear side, as is becoming obvious with the lack of optics for rifles, outdated tanks being used, the very sporadic use of missiles, etc. Meanwhile, Ukraine is using stuff that was considered outdated 20 years ago in the West and is actually kicking ass. They have done stuff with Humvee's the original designers didnt think was possible. And this is before they get to commit the new tanks and IFV's they got (which have been photographed running around).

I honestly wouldnt be surprised if this does end much like the war with the Finns did, except this time in a total Russia loss instead of just a pyrrhic victory (since Ukraine is getting support the Finns never got).

Considering how the fighting is going, I am starting to wonder if it isnt all some Sun Tzu esque feint of "Appear weak when you are strong and strong when you are weak."

TFW you can only scrounge up 1 tank to show off at your military parade after having hundreds just the year before.

T-55’s that can be taken out by a stern look and WW2 surplus bazookas don’t count.

You just load it with something other than liquid fuel. A flamethrower loaded with, for instance napalm, can be shot to pieces and never actually detonate.

....of course, you still have range to consider. Which is why almost all modern flame attack based weapons are rocket based (thermobarics).

How GenZ changed its mind about gender.

Strange. Because I saw a separate poll that GenZ and Millenials were the ones turning against LGBT issues the fastest of any generation.

The truth is, most of these people peaked in High School and therefore never want to leave it. And their "Peak" was still pretty low, so they want a do-over.

GW will always GW but they're not stupid enough to chase after those people.

It has actually been kind of shocking to witness. They have been getting hit with all of the usual request for "We want female Space Marines", and they have actually had the stones to tell those people "Just play Sisters of Battle, you dumb nerds! They are literally the same thing stat wise."

And most of their lore has continued to be interesting without even trying to shy away from the grimdark elements of the older lore, except for a handful of situations where they went "Ok, maybe the Daemonculaba was a bit too far."

We must tread carefully though. Considering that the last two times they had a Charles be king both ended in disaster.

Which in itself goes into an extra issue where they dont know what girls actually want. Because speaking from experience, most women that I know are into Tony Stark/Iron Man, Steve Rogers/Captain America, Peter Parker/Spider-Man, etc. But comics keep trying to create yet another female hero because "That is what they want, right?"

And when they do, it is ones more like Rogue and Harley Quinn and less like....whatever the hell they are making these days.

From what I remember having seen some of them talk about it, they seem to be under this delusion that fans are always fans. So you can go chasing after a new fanbase, changing everything you need to in the process, and the fans will stay because "They love it."

And then every time it doesnt go that way and the fans leave, it leaves them confused. Arent they fans? Why dont they like it?

That should be doubly concerning to them. Because it means people are actually doing their research on what to boycott.

TheModernDaVinci 1 point ago +1 / -0

That still doesnt really help the people who want to make Hollywood and video games into their own personal bullhorn of ideology though. Because if that happens, people will just go and watch RRR in all of its "What the fuck am I even watching" glory, and ignore the next attempt at a propaganda laced movie.

COIN is not a legitimate concern for serious military hardware.

Well obviously, and I am not saying it should be. And I think one of the smartest things the Air Force has done recently is, like you pointed out, producing the Sky Warden, which is literally just a weaponized crop duster.

In the late Cold War...

I know what the Air Force says would have happened to the A-10 during the war, but the truth is that the Air Force never really liked the plane to begin with (A plane who's only job is the help the Army?! *ew), and so played up how fast it would go down in a major war. Consider that in the Gulf War, the Iraqi's had a denser AA network than anything the Soviet's would have had at Fulda, and yet that is the war that got the "Flying Armored Bathtub with BRRT gun" meme into the normie conversation. Even if the raw numbers show that it did underperform the F-15E and the F-111 on attack missions.

Although I suppose to counter my own point, there had also been an extra decade of improvements to SEAD equipment and doctrine by Gulf War (and recent events show we are still some of the only ones with extensive SEAD doctrine).

I bet they are going to have it even be Luke's Order, where he actually fixed most of the issues that he Old Jedi Order had to make it harder for people to fall to the Dark Side. And they are going to go through everything he did, except now "But Rey did it!"

A-10's BRRRRT gun is basically obsolete in modern warfare.

At least from what I heard from my brother, who was in the Army and got air support from some a few times, he said that: Yes, it is very poor at actually hitting stuff. But it was very good at putting the fear of god into the enemy and making them run for the hills. And even if the gun was mediocre, the bombs and rockets usually did work.

At least for him though, his preferred support was from Apaches. Because they were just as good at the whole "HOLY SHIT RUN!!" factor as the A-10, but could also kill stuff much easier.

It was hilarious watching this guy try (and fail) to debate Lazorpig, to the point Pig just stopped giving a shit and started IRL shitposting because why bother with a guy who is that poorly informed on the issue.

Which I would argue is why you are seeing the rise of non-Hollywood movies, the rise of Anime and Manga, and the rise of Indie video games. Not only are those things typically cheaper than the stuff made by the insane Californians, they typically have actual interesting stories, characters, gimmicks, etc. So here we are with them rising.

Probably also why you have seen movies like Top Gun, John Wick, and Mario make absolute boatloads of money. Shocking what happens when you tap into pent up demand.
