A 37-year-old Vancouver woman named Kathrin Mentler told Canada’s Globe and Mail on Wednesday that when she visited Vancouver General Hospital in June to seek help for chronic depression and suicidal thoughts, a clinician told her to consider euthanasia.

According to Mentler, the clinician told her there were “no beds” and “no availability” because Canada’s socialist health care system is “broken,” and then asked if she had “considered MAID.”

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.

Odds we ever see the results of it?

Not only that but the stunts were a lot better because they were allowed to do much more dangerous sequences and didn't have CGI to fall back on.

Kept everything looking so much more realistic and allowed an industry to thrive.

Ah, shit that makes sense.

I wonder if I can manage to get mods working on a steam deck for it, I suppose I'll have to load up the mods through the Deck and I can't just download them and use a thumb drive to load them onto the deck?

“FDA made these statements in response to multiple reports of consumers being hospitalized, after self medicating with ivermectin intended for horses, which is available for purchase over the counter without the need for prescription,” Ms. Honold said.

A version of the drug for animals is available, but ivermectin is approved by the FDA for human use against diseases caused by parasites.

Ms. Honold said that the FDA didn’t purport to require anyone to do anything or to prohibit anyone from doing anything.

“What about when it said, ‘No, stop it’?” Circuit Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod, on the panel that is hearing the appeal, asked.

“Why isn’t that a command? If you were in English class, they would say that was a command.”

Ms. Honold described the statements as “merely quips.”

“Can you answer the question, please? Is that a command, ‘Stop it’?” Judge Elrod asked.

“In some contexts, those words could be construed as a command,” Ms. Honold said.

“But in this context, where FDA was simply using these words in the context of a quippy tweet meant to share its informational article, those statements do not rise to the level of a command.”

The statements “don’t prohibit doctors from prescribing ivermectin to treat COVID or for any other purpose” Ms. Honold said. She noted that the FDA, along with the statements, said that people should consult their health care providers about COVID-19 treatments and that they could take medicine if it was prescribed by the provider.

“FDA is clearly acknowledging that doctors have the authority to prescribe human ivermectin to treat COVID. So they are not interfering with the authority of doctors to prescribe drugs or to practice medicine,” she said.

Amazing. The FDA was apparently making quips regarding your medical health that you should not have taken seriously.

EDIT: I left out the best part.

Ms. Honold also said that the courts can’t hold agencies accountable when they provide false or misleading information: “The FDA is politically accountable, just like all other executive agencies.”

This actually is making me interested in pick it up, looks like the GOTY edition is $9.99.

Is the DLC worth it or just the base game + mods?

The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)

I mentioned Dogtooth to someone else, I'm a big fan of Lanthimos.

If you enjoyed Funny Games you should check out Dogtooth. It is more surreal and less horror but they are oddly similar films in a ton of ways.

The Straight Story is great, Lynch does weird one off films like this and the Elephant Man that turn out fantastic.

I recently watched Lawrence of Arabia and it is a beautiful, meditative film with incredible visuals and an unreal amount of extras. It is really a strange film but if you have a big screen or projector the visuals are worth it just by themselves. It is a lot different from modern films and war films in general, I know many people haven't watched it due to the excessive runtime but it is worth the time investment.

I also recommend the Kurosawa classic Ikiru, an uncompromising film about death that still holds up today and is his best work. Really hits home for the 40+ crowd but a classic film for a reason. I was extremely surprised by how relevant and relatable it is today.

And, as always, if you haven't seen The Thing (1982) you are doing yourself a huge disservice.

The job took its toll on Taylor. She suffers from Trigeminal Neuralgia, a chronic disorder that causes severe facial pain. Thanks to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, she was sidelined, despite the department being severely understaffed. She’s otherwise fully vaccinated, but given her condition she didn’t want to risk adverse effects.

Holy shit she had a pre-existing condition and they still tried to fire her for not taking the shot.

Despite her concerns, submitting her resignation was a bittersweet moment for Taylor. She loves the city, spending time volunteering to help the homeless and volunteering with the Special Olympics. She was also recognized by the National Guard with a Patriot Award, which honors supervisors who go above and beyond to support soldiers in the National Guard.

Sounds like exactly the kind of cop they don't want on the squad.

“While we don’t address personnel issues, the Seattle Police Department is working alongside our city partners to restore the department to over 1400 officers,” a spokesperson explained to the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH in a statement. “We want our officers to feel valued and respected for their hard work every single day. We are committed to highlighting that work on a routine basis.”

It is worth reading the entire 15 page resignation letter, everything we suspected she basically confirms.

It seems Ice Cube has become quite the conservative media darling lately, sitting down with not just Carlson, but Joe Rogan and Piers Morgan as well. He’s joining a long list of rappers – Kanye West, Da Baby, Kodak Black, Lil Pump – who have all put themselves in dangerous proximity to conservative politicians even as rightwing populism threatens to destroy their communities.

I love the terminology they use.

DANGEROUS PROXIMITY.

Even the byline tries to upset black people by accusing them of being faggots if they are Conservative.

Ice Cube has joined a long list of rappers who have cuddled up with conservative pundits and politicians

Here's the worst one:

Kanye campaigned for Trump, and both Lil Wayne and Kodak Black publicly supported the former president after being pardoned by him on his last day in office. In 2020, Trump even brought a supportive Lil Pump out to a Michigan rally (where Trump introduced him as “Lil Pimp”), while Da Baby was also very vocal about supporting Trump’s second bid last year.

We can try to excuse this behavior or dress it up as “opening a dialogue” or “crossing the aisle” as much as we like, but that is not what this is about. So what do these rappers have in common with rightwingers who wouldn’t otherwise touch them with a 10ft pole?

Excuse this behavior? How DARE my uppity nigger leaves the plantation and thinks for himself. That is UNACCEPTABLE!

In discussions about money, gender identity, public health and a variety of social issues, rappers and rightwingers have a lot more in common than you’d immediately think. Many people from both groups share hypermasculinity, conservative Christian values, and a distrust of social institutions (justified or not); and on this common ground sits a messy and dangerous alliance full of people who ordinarily would hate each other, but have come together to make vulnerable people their enemy.

"Normally hate each other."

Ice Cube, for example, is a well-documented anti-vaxxer, and has expressed bigoted views on gender identity, as have many of his colleagues like Da Baby, Boosie and others.

Time to attack the black! They aren't really part of us leftists!

And when it comes down to the raw cents and dollars, modern-day wealth solidarity between mainly Black rappers and powerful conservatives isn’t entirely surprising. Ownership in hip-hop is whiter than ever and the nature of the music itself has become increasingly capitalistic. Rap is no longer the embodiment of African American resistance it once was. Now, it’s a hyper-commercialized cultural assembly line that’s somehow been re-designed to glorify the very issues it once pushed so hard against.

HAhahahahahahahahahahahaa.

You don't see the irony of Planned Parenthood arguing 'slippery slope' after the last few years?

“Among their concerns is that a total ban on marriage of minors could be a slippery slope and impede constitutional rights or reproductive choices, including access to abortion,” the Los Angeles Times reported.

2
TerpenoidTester 2 points ago +2 / -0

Planned Parenthood is pushing back on the proposed ban because the organization is worried imposing an age requirement could eventually lead to laws limiting abortions for minors. The organization did not respond to Newsweek‘s request for comment.

His apology doesn't help his lawsuit but you can't roll over and let them fuck you like this so publicly. Man up.

In-Bev is huge, worst case scenario is they'll drop 10-15% even if Bud Light crashes and burns.

The company who is buying up these craft brands is doing it for a shitty reason though, they are just loading up on manufacturing facilities for the future while their value is the lowest.

This article shows collaboration between state and media at a level we've never seen before in the history of the country.

If all you took away from it is "jews are bad" you totally missed the point.

The Times’ Eliza Shapiro — self-described “serious reporter who doesn’t pull punches” — is seen in the massive volume of communications, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, discussing with the New York State Education Department how “we” can craft comment for the first story launching the Times’ series of articles targeting yeshivas, and giving the government almost a full business-week longer than the schools to comment. Emails also show she worked with the government to direct blame for the Times’ allegations, and coordinated timing on publishing with a vote to regulate the religious schools.

The key here is the last part: COORDINATED TIMING. This is beyond unacceptable for a media outlet.

The Times’ first story that launched the anti-religious crusade, published in September, alleges Hasidic students “[know] nothing” and grow up “barely [able] to support their own families.” The story was revealed by Breitbart to have been carefully curated by omitting relevant information, shunning sources directly involved with the schools, and declining to publish pertinent on-the-record statements — producing a weapon used by secular political interest groups to attack the Orthodox Jewish community’s most sacred institutions.

So what I'm reading here is that the New York Times is antisemitic and corrupt at the same time?

As Breitbart previously reported, the “investigation” dropped in what appeared to be unbelievable timing, the day before the Board of Regents held a unanimous vote, without debate, to allow state functionaries heavier say in the education of Orthodox children. Those children happen to be of parents vehemently opposed to the social justice curriculum that has been injected into most other New York schools.

So the Muslims and the Jews both hate social justice? The thing that is supposed to be helping them? Funny how that works.

In one correspondence, Shapiro is seen working with the government to produce the state’s comment on the reporting, with almost a week longer to respond than the private religious schools being maligned.

This bitch was literally writing the copy for how the state would respond. Amazing.

The final copy of the Times story maintained the premise that the Jewish private schools violate “basic education,” ignoring DeSantis’ explanation of the definition, and also ignoring Shapiro’s own point that the state would ostensibly be responsible for enforcement.

“[A] New York Times investigation has found … that generations of children have been systematically denied a basic education,” the Times wrote in its final copy about the schools. The story did not mention that “basic education” is a legal term that does not apply to non-public schools, which was addressed by DeSantis in the “fact checking” request.

Damn. This is impressive ineptitude. NY Times basically humiliated themselves here alongside the NY state Government.

There's some real gems in here but I'll highlight some of the most egregious.

Emails show Courtney Rowe, then-White House director of strategic communications and engagement for Covid-19 response, praising Facebook in April 2021 for offering the White House suppression data “broken down by region and demographics.” One sentence later, she petitioned the Big Tech company to answer “how do we work with you all to push back on it[?]” because she believed that “if someone in rural Arkansas sees something on FB, it’s the truth.”

Hmm I wonder which demographics the WH asked to suppress...

In April 2021, Biden’s then-Director of Digital Strategy Rob Flaherty also sent Facebook several suppression demands to censor right-wing commentators and publications. According to Flaherty, outlets like the Daily Wire are “polarizing” and not “authoritative news source[s].”

“You wouldn’t have a mechanism to check the material impact?” Flaherty questioned.

Astonishing they put this shit down in writing.

On behalf of the White House, Flaherty even asked Facebook to reduce visibility for the New York Post, which debuted reporting about Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” and Biden family corruption six months earlier.

“I’m curious – NY Post churning out articles every day… What is supposed to happen to that from Policy perspective. Does that article get a reduction, labels?” Flaherty asked the censors.

“We’re keen on what platforms are doing to reduce the spread of bad information, that platforms are not funneling people towards bad content,” Flaherty wrote. “That’s our primary concern.”

Ah, here he knows that it is being recorded and might come out later. Keep it as vague as possible.

The censors at the Silicon Valley giant explained that they couldn’t “remove” every user or post deemed problematic by the White House but eventually agreed to demote certain posts even when the posts did not explicitly violate Facebook’s terms and conditions.

"Hey guys we know this is wrong so we won't do it...but we'll still do it."

Facebook claimed that posts complaining about the “government overreach” of the Biden administration’s Covid jab mandates were reduced because they fed a “vaccine negative environment.”

Someone needs to set up a scab service and start pushing screenplays that they've been ignoring for years because they didn't fit the current 'climate.'

There's excellent work rotting away while the crappy ones have been cherry picked for 'diversity'. Just tell the writers to eat a dick and begin accepting work from outside the unions. Studios get to begin work on new projects, writers realize they are spoiled and most of their competition isn't even being considered, and hopefully good scripts start being greenlit again not just ones involving the most...diverse topics.

On an equal playing field most of these people would be unemployed. Grow some balls studios. Bring us back to the glory days.

Who am I kidding? They'll just cave and probably make it even worse.

The law, which requires district attorneys to look at every case for probable cause and prevents the blanket dismissal of cases, took effect on July 1. The law also set up a commission that has the power to discipline or remove prosecutors who don’t prosecutes crimes thoroughly and fairly.

Naturally, Democrat district attorneys leaped from their fainting couches in the highest of dudgeon over the new law, calling it “excessive and unnecessary” and even “racist” for suggesting that prosecutors should actually prosecute or face discipline. Now, a group of district attorneys has filed a challenge to the law, asking a judge to block it on the grounds that it undermines their ability to choose which cases to prosecute.

“The attack on Georgia’s Prosecuting Attorneys Qualifications Commission, filed Wednesday in Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta, comes after Republicans pushed through a law creating the panel earlier this year,” reports Jeff Amy at the Associated Press. “Republican Gov. Brian Kemp pledged when he signed the law that it would curb ‘far-left prosecutors’ who are ‘making our communities less safe.”’

Spearheading the effort is DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston, who has twice recused her office from prosecuting Antifa thugs who have targeted the future site of a public safety training center for the City of Atlanta. In typical Democrat fashion, Boston framed the case in the most dramatic terms, pointing out to the AP that it’s “bigger than Georgia.”

Here is my favorite quote from the piece:

“We are talking about prosecutorial discretion and prosecutorial independence, both of which have been solidly under assault the last few years,” Boston said. Have you noticed that when Democrats don’t like something, that means that the opposite of that thing is “under assault”?

Oh, the sweet sweet irony.

The estimated evasion rate, which in part is being driven by the cost-of-living crisis, has increased to over ten per cent for the first time since 1995.

UK imports millions of refugees, evasion rate of BBC skyrockets...the explanation must be cost of living increases!

It really is hilarious how they rationalize things to avoid the real answer.

That's why he's being punished.

Notice NHL players all stood up against the 'pride' shit they were being forced to wear and none apologized for their stances. They made it clear it was religious persecution and the NHL, an incredibly shitty woke organization, had to admit defeat and quietly shelve it.

If they had apologized they'd all be out of a job right now too. Admitting fault costs you all your leverage.

I'm not even sure who they lost to. Probably some small island nation.

EDIT: They lost to Sweden in PKs. Rapinoe missed the decider.
