The guy whose wife drowned the kids in the bath tub. I don't think anybody would have blamed him if he beat the crap out of her

Remember when wokesters were wearing various symbols to show that they were "safe" and an "ally"? I guess this was during #Metoo or thereabouts. It was no doubt an excellent strategy for predators.

Because an attractive woman, like in the old days, would simply be too controversial.

The picture itself, with its "2SLGBTQI+", looks rather like an edgy joke at the cost of the wokesters. We can't have anyone be offended can we? Maybe we should report them?

Does anyone else feel that they have overcompensated for the old damsel in distress x1000 by now?

Several studies have shown that conservatives tend to be happier than "liberals".

It's better than 99% of the garbage out there, but that's not saying very much. I like Kevin Costner in this one. There's some Native American preaching, and for one episode I thought it was going to go completely sideways because of that, but then it sort of went back on track.

European comics are great! I call them European comics, as some of them are written by people from e.g. Spain or Italy. They often put in a lot of work into their comics. One favorite of mine is Eagles of Rome by Marini, and a classic from way back is Corto Maltese.

I particularly liked the part where Gandalf finally gets to phone home.

Best comment under the trailer:**

I see a lot of people defending this saying "who cares if the Dahomeys enslaved people, they did other things too. People don't feel offended when it's not a movie about Romans that doesnt shows slavery or crucification"

Dude, this entire war was about slavery. Because the Dahomeys entire culture existed based on slavery, because their entire existence was about raiding other African cities and enslaving people. This is why the French decided to step in and fight a war to put an end to their empire in the first place. And a large portion of the French forces were also Africans who were tired of Dahomey's shit. (like the Senegalese Tirailleurs. They should had just made a movie about them, and it would be a cool movie about black soldiers putting the final nail in the coffin of the last great enslaver empire in the world. THEY are the ones that deserves a movie about them, not their enslavers) By the time this war takes place (1892), slavery already had been banned in the entire western world.(Brazil was the last country to abolish slavery, in 1888).

If you still don't understand how bad the concept of this movie is, then try to imagine a World War Two movie where the Germans are invaded by the French, who have concentration camps to exterminate Germans in Paris, and then say it's "based on a powerful true story". This is what this movie looks like. It's disgusting. Every single person involved with the production of this movie should feel ashamed.

Spoilers: It's going to be difficulty for the her to become a "woman king" because when the city was captured, the coward king tried to set the whole city on fire and then ran away. Let's say there was not much more of a kingdom to govern after the war.**

That’s a very rosy way of looking at a post basically saying “they’re going to kill us all!”

“3 times more nutritious”? scientists say that? 3 times more of what? Calories? Vitamins? It can’t be 3 times more of everything 😄

Yes. But I’m not sure how closely it follows the book. I have never seen the series myself.

Shogun is Clavell’s most famous novel, but I think my favorites are Tai-Pan and Noble House.

Many of the writers who I’d say appeal more to men, like Tom Clancy, have now passed away sadly, Wilbur Smith being a recent one. One of my favorites was James Clavell who I definitely think would be considered “problematic” today.

I always use literature as an example of women taking over when they’re ACTUALLY more interested than men are. Women just read more novels. If they were more interested in gaming, they’d have taken over that business long ago, but instead we get stories of “toxic gamers” driving women out. But the reality is that men just play more games. I believe women have taken over almost all literature except sci-fi, which is why this genre is still considered “toxic”.
