And I began self-harming for the first time in years.
You're tough enough to cut your own skin, the least you could do is try to gross me out with pictures. One for each cut. Both arms if you got 'em. The freshest ones make me feel the sorriest for you and shake my fist at those abusers who would write words at you to make you do this awful thing.
I'm in no way trying to get you to do anything you haven't already definitely done, or do it more than you already have. I just want to sympathize, I swear.
There is a colonial dimension to this. A white imperialism.
Because it's hardly character assassination at all for the claim to be merely "paid 8-year-olds to ride him in a graveyard." Gotta be racist and classist to make any headway with the types who might otherwise ignore this.
There is a tiny bit of it, and there was the colossal fuckup that was replacing the HUD due to screaming of the usual types back at the height of Tracer's Butt-gate. Thankfully they put it mostly back later with kind of a refreshing "fuck you this is better" vibe.
Basically was two slaves chained up, and that was female exploitation or something. They changed it to two SUPER generic images of a skull and a lion. Then later changed it to the twin-goddesses of the Sun and Moon, in poses reminiscent of the original slaves, but not chained up now. It was absolutely a censorship move, later mildly undone with something that wasn't a slap-job, but it's still very stupid the reasoning behind it all. One person complained on the forum. Just like with Tracer in Overwatch.

The dialog lines do give you some hope for humanity though, there's very little of the expected politics you get from most other games. I especially like the dialog differences based on your character that lend personality to your character choice rather than just a skin you're wearing. My main complaint is that the characters are all variously ugly with some very rare exceptions. I wouldn't mind a slightly more attractive cast, haha.
It's interesting that your take of Penny Dreadful was based on the first season, when I felt the first season was tight and well designed and the flaws you mention (meandering, no plan, shock for no reason, every character inverts their type and reasoning on a dime) were distinctly season 2 problems. Also the scenes you picked were from season 2. Makes me wonder if you realized just how short season 1 actually was.
However, my opinion of the show itself is identical. When I heard they were making a season 3 I said "fuck that noise" and have never given it the barest look.
She accuses Whedon of being an extreme and unrepentant douche. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, it certainly isn't to me. But the whole "he weaponized my womanhood against me" is an escalation that the world does not need. That's just victimology.
I'd sympathize without the "I'm piling on now because he fired that poor black man playing Cyborg" and "I dealt with it at the time but later decided it was predatory after a therapist told me it was." You've become a weaker and less famous person over time and want to attach to a current topic. Classy.
I 100% believe he drove her from Angel because she got pregnant and he didn't like that she was a Christian. I COMPLETELY believe that he'd insinuate that she should have an abortion to save her job. Joss is a shit stain who walks upright like a human man. But I have no sympathy because of how this story was delivered. Tell the story, but don't cry the river.
Let's see if I can succinctly unpack the conflict of interest here: a group of workers wishes to hold a unionization vote by mail. Workers who won't show up to work, want to create a union to protect them from having to work in conditions they don't like, and they want to sit at home while doing this.
I had a boss once tell me, that he expects new hire candidates to be dressed to the nines even when the job itself doesn't call for it, because how they are dressed and present themselves on their potential first day is the best condition you will ever see them: the top bar. A similar reasoning: if a union can't be assed to appear on the day of voting to BECOME a union, you can expect to never see them again once they ARE a union.
Nevermind fraud. Unwillingness to show up to work is a valid criticism of a "labor" union.
He released a provisional Hawaiian certificate that was one of a famously fraudulent wave at the time. Hawaii was involved in an immigration scandal where they'd allow anyone to claim their kids were citizens without proof. Obama provided one of THOSE from that era. It wasn't just a bad answer, it was basically confirmation that he had no proof at all that he was American. Or worse, confirmation he wasn't and a dare to anyone that would have a problem with that.
"Slow the rise of cases" is a stupid goal. "Slow the rise of expensive outcomes like hospitalizations or deaths so the 'infrastructure' can cope" is better, but still condescending and ultimately disruptive and unhelpful.
Lockdowns do not save lives. Lockdowns stretch the inevitable over a longer period for the very dubious benefit of having fewer problems right this second, traded for more and expanded problems on until the indefinite. In practice we do not even experience "fewer problems right this second" we experience different and unnecessary ACUTE problems right this second.
Over the summer, the Army and Navy’s Twitch channels were flooded with messages about America’s copious war crimes, questions that almost always resulted in bans. But since these bans arguably straddled the line of free speech violations, the Navy is asking its streamers to adopt a different tactic when viewers bring up the military’s past atrocities: act like complete fucking babies about it.
This stupid-ass new 'doctrine' that banning someone from your chat-room is curtailing their free speech is weak as fuck and needs to go away. And they have the gall to call measured and careful responses to outrage-trolling 'whiney'?
People get banned for using all-caps too much in twitch chats all the fucking time because they're disrupting the discussion by being distracting. Piping up in a military-sponsored chatroom with low-effort troll shit like "What is your favorite American war crime?" is very obviously meant to derail, embarrass, and disrupt the stream. But no, that's protected speech because it is anti-military, anti-patriotic, and anti-traditional. Rebel shit is protected, but the exact same level of simple miscreancy, no, that's not speech at all, you can ban those losers for joking around, but you can't ban our trolls because their targets are sanctioned.
I mean, they can try. It's shocking honestly they think they can keep going to this dry well. They are dealing with a thoroughly poisoned topic due to 40 years of alarmism being absurdly wrong on every prediction. Even Al Gore was caught on tape raging a few years ago that bringing up "climate" in any context was an instant turn off and dismissal of the speaker.
They also can't help being hypocrites of the highest order. This isn't even similarly farcical as someone wearing a mask behind an anchor desk sitting all alone. This is a multimedia conglomerate draining more coal-sourced electricity and generating more heat through their stage lights in a single night than any person can hope to in a year of their home energy usage.
They fly in their private jets coast to coast on a weekly basis or more consuming more fuel and expelling more exhaust in a month than joe-average will in multiple lifetimes.
People see this when they look at them. Saying 'green' every two seconds isn't convincing, it's shamanistic marketing to an empty choir.
Go back to the climate, please. At your peril, CNN.
