3 for and 3 against by rote, leaving 3 unknowns: Roberts, Kavanaugh, and Barrett. Prediction is:
- Kavanaugh against due to federalism concerns
- Roberts against due to unmerited Commerce Clause expansion
- Barrett against because of peer pressure (>_>)
Oral arguments will be telling because the side that gets the most questions is the side that tends to lose (Judges will pre-decide and shoot holes in the side they oppose with their questioning). Those will take place this week.
Many other interesting details that warrant watching the clip. The status of litigation nationwide. The comparison to Canadian litigation which has utterly failed in all respects because judges there are rubberstamping the zeitgeist without consideration. Biden himself declaring mandates are a state issue (though since he is recognizably insane, his statements may not carry so much weight in adult conversation). And other stuff.
Kotaku (next year): "Why didn't racists like this great game?"
Kotaku reader: "You told me the devs were racist?!"
What the actual game-buying public sees in this game is a product trying too hard to pander. Pandering to the current US moment, and the West in general. Every molecule of this looks like it was focus-grouped. Of course the California PR firm they hired to DO the focus group threw out their own results when they were found to be too misogynous and racist, so they just wrote up the "real, honest" input themselves. Can't have Joe Public influencing things when we have a Cultural Revolution to bring about.
Hapless profit-seeking Japanese firm assumes professionality from their American counterparts and follows their advice by darkening every skintone, swagging every walk animation, and throwing obscenities and hipster non-sequiturs into every player exclamation to get something that sounds like Faye from Netflix's Bebop. The gamers will be so pleased!
The game is so dated just in its aesthetics. "Stronk black lesbian side-shave" is going to be the clearest indicator to future anthropologists of a work being conceived in 2019. I know every DC, Marvel, and Disney character is this way, but even you in far off Moon-Speak must have some idea of just how out of touch those companies are to the culture they claim to represent.
Best thing I can say about this production is... hiring Bear McCreary to do your soundtrack will perhaps be a positive, and I may buy the OST even if I'll never touch this thing itself. I say this tentatively, I'll wait to hear it first.
This incident has had many subsequent developments since this video. People interested should realize how deep this rabbit-hole goes and come up to date with what's happened. Gamer's Nexus' coverage got a lot more aggressive than this as it went along because NZXT were NOT contrite and tried to pivot into "it's not that big a deal, minority of customers affected" and providing a minimum quality replacement.
There were two videos before this one in the saga. One where they announced that there was a potential problem with these cases [https://youtu.be/OiZHYCN-vw4?t=409] (a video made the rounds shortly after their announcement on twitter of a computer literally catching fire). And a follow-up where they confirmed the issue, and laid the blame on these riser cables [https://youtu.be/9XIKOSrQdQ0].
At that earliest announcement, NZXT had already fucked up. Their downplay of the issue as a "safety issue affecting a minority of customers" and delisting of the Amazon page associated with the product, caused all information naturally circulating in the Amazon reviews to be hidden from the public. They also quashed some smaller resellers who were alerting their customers that they'd been in contact with NZXT about a problem. Basically they were doing minimum-legal signaling and stopping anyone from making any bigger deal out of the issue because they didn't care about the problem (such as people's houses burning down), they only cared about their liability for the problem.
The issue was confirmed to be a very bad board design that had a power-conducting-wafer being penetrated by a (metal) screw that mounts to the (metal) outer-case. Grounding wasn't just 'possible' it was extremely likely. And fire wasn't the only potential outcome, the case itself could be energized directly and shock (or even electrocute) you if you touched it. As far as I'm aware, no case in the wild made it that far, because the plastic housing on the riser would immediately melt once grounded, so you'd get a fire in almost all cases.
NZXT tried very minimal fixes over time (replacing metal screws with nylon screws), but it took them very long to just produce new risers without the power-plane extending past the screw holes. This brings us to OP's video.
NZXT finally addressed the issue with something approaching the proper degree of seriousness and severity in February [https://youtu.be/ZnDWxiFvUtE]. Worth noting that they previously quashed the Amazon reviews in November. They still can't avoid spin even at this late stage by saying they were always on top of the problem, and the nylon screws were supposed to be a total-fix but they later became aware of additional facts that caused them to reconsider that. That statement lands somewhere between bullshit and incompetence.
NZXT finally issues a formal recall a week later [https://youtu.be/79ZMI6MDgmw].
NZXT sends journalists (Gamer's Nexus, these guys) a preview of their replacement cable in March [https://youtu.be/c9PlibqsBWg]. GN inspect it under x-ray and determine that the power-plane has actually been moved, and all is seemingly better in the world. GN then presciently predict what will go wrong next:
GN in May becomes aware that NZXT has pulled a bait-and-switch [https://youtu.be/SY4mBkB3CDw]. After getting the positive press from GN with their review of the riser replacement, NZXT sent shittier cables out to customers.
In conclusion. Don't buy NZXT. They are actually terrible in every regard.
American government sponsored slush-fund disguised as a business rating metric. The outgoing Obama administration put this in place as an 'alternative' viability metric for the investment in a company for 401k (retirement pools that are invested en masse largely without the input of their owners) fund managers to consider. Previous metric was demonstrated solvency and profitability. This new one is basically "or be dedicated to mushy ideals."
These ideals are 'diversity,' 'eco-friendliness,' and every other kind of leftist wank you can guess at. Qualification under this guideline means that 401k funds are free to be invested in you despite any performance you show or quality you exhibit that would make the investment good for the stakeholder (the guy whose money is being invested). As you can imagine, qualification for this is considerably easier than opening up your ledgers and showing how your business works, you just have to plaster platitudes over all your PR materials and hire a 48.22765% black and indigenous board, or a female CEO, your pick.
This inverts the relationship of what 401k investment is about, adding value to retirees so that by the time they retire they have money that has atleast beat inflation, but hopefully has added good value too. Instead this new qualification places the onus of investment on "saving the world" by shuffling the funds into the hands of self-proclaimed do-gooders (by extremely Democrat party standards and values).
I've heard argument that this isn't long-term viable as 401k managers will be steered away from unprofitable investments by their stakeholders, but that is naïve. Because the architects of this system hate 401k investments and want them to burn, this just happens to be a double-win for them. They're stealing money from the people they hate (those tax-evading rich bastards who work a job that lets them set their earned money aside for the future) and giving that same money to themselves via their DNC donor-fodder fly-by-night wind-farm boondoggles.
Triple win if you factor in the net-effect it's had on all big companies who want an easy check-off for access to these kinds of giant collective investment pools. I kind of doubt that was counted on being such a major effect, because it's THAT that has alerted the Average Joe to what is going on. Everyone going woke simultaneously when there is no good business sense for it. Turns out there IS good business sense getting a 'woke' investment firm to shovel you money for simply being woke yourself.
Bold of them to characterize their racial justice values as being normally meted out by decapitation with a skateboard. I think I may have to ideologically oppose that as well with some amount of prejudice.
Our attack is justice! Your defense is bigotry!
A ludicrous notion. Nazis and Communists were alike in every way that mattered. If we had more of one and less of the other we would not notice any difference at all at scale. Thinking Socialism is the cure to Communism is a silly, silly mistake.
And it is very hard to argue that Communists behaved 'worse' during WW2 because it was Socialists projecting power at the time. We tend to disfavor defeated aggressors.
Rebranding "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" was already a tacit admission. They assume their marks are stupid so they can audaciously continue their grift. These are the same politically driven 'scientists' behind covid lockdowns, and they have admitted freely that they want 'climate' lockdowns next.
Ms. Colleen tries every spin she can think of here. To her it's all so bewildering and rancorous that the bitter clingers won't let go of their delusions and join in the progressive future with her and the rational people. "Fuck Joe Biden" was already the most popular and common crowd chant at sports events for weeks before NBC so hilariously failed to suppress it in their NASCAR coverage. "Let's Go Brandon" has been co-opted with delight and aplomb universally as a rallying cry with new additional meaning: "Fuck Joe Biden... and the Media."
A typical problem for magazine writers is their view of the 'rabble' out there as barely guided sheep with no will, intelligence, or beliefs of their own. They're Christians because they were told to be. They're Republicans because they were told to be. If only we could be the ones to tell them, they'd be ours instead. They bemoan and decry anyone who lampoons or lambasts the media because they're derailing their holy attempts at progress through reeducation of the recalcitrant and stupid zombies who vote against their and everyone's best interests.
To them it is unthinkable and in-fact impossible that the 'masses' could have a thought of their own and make real decisions absent being told by their betters. They look at a cultural phenomenon and refuse the obvious explanation that the crowd is against them. It is the Trump PAC, it is the "Veteran GOP ad maker Jim Innocenzi" who has done this. There is no subtlety in this message, it is just a repackaged one delivered in the NPC update given to the captured drones of the opposition. It's "coded crudity" which merely rolls off the tongue better.
There is even a hint of jealousy that such a simple message could be so powerfully utilized. This is why they hate (and fail always to reproduce) memes. They willfully ignore the power of the crowd's intelligence. Centralized power comes from centralized intelligence. The people wielding power is as unnatural as the people disagreeing with their betters. For this fact alone they fail to packetize their message efficiently because they fail to account for the force-multiplier that simple (and especially subtle) Truth has when it is transmitted freely by the plebeians amongst themselves.
Reading a leftist's bewildered analysis of a simple fact is here, as always, a delightful pastime. It reassures me that these big thinkers are far more blinded by their prejudice and philosophical indoctrination than can ever be undone in this generation.
Woe unto future radical thinkers who DO have to deal with authoritarians who actually understand how information naturally transmits. This current crop is hobbled by their own worldview and they consistently defeat themselves every time they open their mouths.
Except at international airports. Personal experience.
I walked in behind an old Japanese man once, he turned around abruptly, glanced up at me, shook his head, and walked out. I peeked into the stall he'd looked at. It was bad, real bad.
It was also the only time the entire time I'd been in Japan I'd seen the traditional latrine-style toilet. It was apparently the first time for a lot of people who just shat on the walls in protest.
In my experience, every home and business has a western seat toilet. Only schools, and very bewilderingly airports, have the 'traditional' one.
I feel like a robot posted this. The perfect closeups, the studio-quality presentation. For what is actually less appealing than a warm turd.
Did the mask skip? Are ebay accounts automated to this degree that no human actually saw this post before it was created?
Another choice quote from this character for the road.

It'd be hard for me to defend that assertion, unfortunately. And I am in a position where I could well have to defend it, as I am UCLA teaching professor who has institutional obligations in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion. I think other organizations who have similar obligations should also be aware of these issues.
This austere individual is deeply, deeply concerned about the fact that he has to defend this aweful racist mess of time zone information that biases sources that were written in researchable locations and archived for posterity. What about Kenya? What about Niger?!
His entire argument is that the non-existence of those sources makes the existence of 'white' sources racist for existing and taking up space in the database he heavily contributed to back when he was a blithering and blind white supremist haplessly promoting the master race with his vile contributions of facts related to calendars.
His big move was to 'streamline' the database by creating a new arbitrary metric for data inclusion and retroactively apply it to the entire set.
He smugly adds:
I contributed the vast majority of 'backzone' (a contribution that I'm coming more and more to regret :-).
He's an egomaniac traipsing as a friend of the downtrodden savages he regretfully overlooked before.
The same guy is also adding passive-aggressive comments to his patches when he concedes anything to anyone. An example:
This file should be not be used in production by organizations committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion because it restores the previous tzdb setup, which arguably exhibited racial or national preferences.
This is some serious political hokum.
I have read the threads and determined that there WAS significant political motivation in the patch that is being contended. It is apparent in the defenders' stances when discussing it, such as this one:

The purpose of the fork would initially be to maintain the tzdb data set as it was prior to the dispute.
Such a fork would arbitrarily discriminate against countries like Angola and Niger, and in favor of countries like Norway and Sweden.
A primary goal of the recent patches was to avoid racial or national preferences that were present in the previous setup. Arguably these preferences were not intentional, or were apparent and not real; however, that's not an argument I would want to defend.
Although the problem of discrimination could also be fixed in the fork you suggest, any such fix would take considerable work. It couldn't be done merely by reverting a patch or two. All this work would be need to be done before any such fork could be used by an organization that is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.
The opponents have stuck to technical issues in their opposition of the changes, but the defenders keep bringing up racism to argue for the changes. That's to be expected in the current political climate, only one side is allowed to attack while the other is required to meander about the margins without giving voice to the real problem.
The same person later warns that a fork better "satisfy equity, diversity, and inclusion concerns" as a parting threat.
I can't tell which side you're arguing. You sound pro-anatomy for lizards, but anti-anatomy for cats. But either one is fine, just don't try to claim they hurt real living human females by their existence either way.
I'm pro aesthetics. My lizards should be sexy. My cats should be sexy. My elves should be sexy, and my fucking dwarves should be sexy. I'm not playing pretend with you if my make-believe world can't even be slightly better than the painful one I'm trying to stop living in for 5 minutes. We should be united at-least in that.
I looked around to the extent twitter is usable to someone without an account. This seems to be something about DnD and a lizard race having more than 2 breasts. This has been one of those guaranteed to piss off feminists elements of sci-fi since the beginning. They think the idea of different-than-human breasts (in number especially) to be anti-woman somehow. The reasoning is never elaborated just "more than 2 breasts is gross and evil" and you're supposed to nod because of course it is.
You're left to guess why they hate it, but I'm sure its some variation on 'unrealistic body standards' that they like to fall back on to defend their own ugly and unappealing lifestyle choices. They pulled this same mental gymnastics briefly with futanari porn, since now it's terrible to like tits and peepee on the same creature if they're of an idealized size. "This is hateful to real trans."
It never stops amusing me that they have to attack and destroy fantastic beauty elements to defend their shit-level existence. By their own reasoning and impetus. They're straight up threatened by you having an idea. Being corporeal isn't even an advantage when what you're grabbing is so slimy and gross.
This is the same literal script they had when the Texas windfarms froze over. It was all the fault of 'privatization.' Like the publicly run California energy grid doesn't brown-out 3 times a week.
Nice thing about private energy production, if something isn't working, they'll change it cause by god they need it to work to make money. To an ideologue, that's aweful because they might change that thing you like to that thing you don't like.
But ultimately, the only reason a private entity would run a wind farm... is for the tax credit + stipend. That's not a 'private' reason at all.
There'll be no Arlong pirates because CG too expense, they'll necessarily butcher Nami's backstory as a result, probably take the opportunity to remove all character flaws and make her black. Actually lets go whole hog and merge her with her mom's character since she had a side-shave, those are hot now.
Ussop... they'll keep his nose for no good reason, which will be a forever blight on the proceedings. They'll also make him black because hair-curly = black coded.
Zoro will be Asian, because swords = Asian you bigot. Sanji will have the eyebrow, for no good reason, and WON'T be French... again for no good reason.
Luffy, dear god, Luffy. Nothing I can say, he'll be a horrendous mishmash of the worst kinds of CG, and the worst kinds of progressive writing. They will see the idiot and overlook his infallible moral compass, make him the butt of every joke because "he already is!" He also WON'T be black, because 'monkey' is a slur you racist bigot.
There will also be no good marines. At all, anywhere. AMAB.
Just my predictions.
Clearly they are. The temptation is too great not to. When your political enemy is mostly arrayed opposite an issue and you have the chance to leverage that issue to disenfranchise them, you win all current and future battles by doing so. If you assume the right is against mandates, then the best way to beat them bar none is to make their voice in government contingent on compliance. Those who comply will be softened against resistance because they have already compromised their position. Those most strongly against have their voices denied outright.
This is why these issues are foundational to freedom and free speech. "Health" isn't just a potential cudgel against dissent, it is currently used as such. This isn't slippery slope conspiracy; this is clear and present danger.
