I think the issue here is that the Leftists probably do see it as a race war, while the belligerents see it as a religious war, so there's a few ways this comment can be taken. The uncharitable interpretation is likely the correct one in this case, so I'm removing it, but with no further sanction.

Maybe. There were 18 counts identified, not 16, I'm not sure which ones are felonies, but the numbers don't add up.
The position is that trolling isn't inherently bad. If it gets out of hand, and starts causing flame wars, or creating slander, then it's a problem. But it's otherwise a form of verbal sparing that can help to refine argumentation, and expose forums to unpopular opinions within their own audience.
It still has to be the minority of engagement, and it has to be prevented from being toxic, but it can otherwise be useful.
