Then it starts to feel permanent because they've done "everything right" and it's only gone completely wrong.

Because it's designed to. That's why the rush to operate - as far as the socjus types are concerned, once they've convinced you to start cutting important bits of yourself off, they own you. Because most of the time, they're correct.

Cuomo has passed the point where it's more useful to discard the figurehead in order to preserve the policy, I suspect.

to protest "Rupert Murdoch and his denial of the climate emergency."

"Join me in my delusion, or I'll hurt myself"

How about "no"?

Because, if you're trying to manage every conversation - like a totalitarian - and trying to make every conversation about your cult - like a true zealot - it's easier to achieve this if you can reduce the number of conversations to something you can manage.

Yeah, because Marx forbid that people actually have kids rather than merely indoctrinating somebody else's...

Quite possibly, but considering Macron seems to have taken the Louis role, are you sensing "compassion" on the list of things you associate with the man?

It's "temporary" when they're getting the legislation passed, but as soon as they're in, it's a human right and cannot be rescinded.

Not meaning to be callous, but what's the baseline here?

Being a police officer is a stressful job. Given the baseline rate and the size of the department, what's the "usual" rate for this kind of thing?

That's before we even get to determining if the protest was a causal factor. Kind of stink of post hoc ergo propter hoc, tbh

A brief reminder: after the deposing their own royalty, France devolved into anarchy, chaos, and massacres, followed by an authoritarian regime arising in response to this.

So ... just to confirm.

Laurel Hubbard's snatch failed?

Isn't that a reasonably common thing within that community?

YouTube is using "fact checking" as a kind of nudge to let people know that they're dangerously close to getting deplatformed, perhaps?

It's interesting how assiduously West Yorkshire Police avoid talking about the races of the respective parties, when it appears on the face of it that there's no other reason for the attack to have happened...

CCP aren't just commies, they're commies who won't keep their nose out of everyone else's business, the worst kind.

That's the endgame for all communism. It cannot compete with capitalism - see the exodus from communist countries to capitalist ones every time that is an option - so to stop their serfs running for the hills any variant of communism must seek to expand it's influence or fight a continual battle to imprison it's own population.

Worth noting:

Scientists that encouraged the use of fear to control people’s behaviour during the pandemic have admitted that its work was “unethical” and “totalitarian”

Also from one of the UK scientific advisory groups.

Don't see why they wouldn't do the same with forced vaccinations.

Well, the usual play for the US when the Federal government really wants something to happen is that it takes all the money the States pay the Fed and simply ... stops giving it back to the State in question.

Downvotes are an anethema to the situation, not a response.

Downvotes are for when your debating partner isn't even debating, merely shitting the bed in public.
