It was a list of DECLINED charges which is why they never had a dollar figure attached to it.

The $2000 coffee cups? Another less-than-25%-true. Heavy aircraft in the Air Force have crew accommodations on board just like a passenger aircraft, for the same reason passenger aircraft do. Part of that is having a galley so they can have refreshments on board. Part of that galley is a coffee machine. And one of those heavy aircraft is an in-flight refueling tanker that is full of plastic bags of gas strapped to the floor and make for a dangerous environment. The electronics on-board are designed to be intrinsically safe to minimize the risk of explosion if there's a vapor leak, and that included the coffee machine, and the company that made the coffee machine closed up ages ago. The coffee machines all were breaking, so they had to get a new contract to redesign and install and replace all the broken coffee machines, which means a lot of energy and time and effort into a device that only has one application: use in in-flight refueling aircraft, which means a low manufacturing run which means pricetags tend to be extremely high to recoup the cost.
There never was a $2000 "coffee cup" that was literally just a cup that holds coffee and nothing more. It was a sealed-for-flight device designed to not blow up the entire plane in the event of an emergency.
