Years late to modern tactics and you can rest assured they won't be "saving" anything on the traditional, overpaid sacks of **** arsenal bolstered by the MIC that got beat by every country in modern engagements, including Yemen last year.
This is not necessarily a bad thing. I've spoken often about how our overall combat doctrine is trapped in the nineties, and a realignment towards a 21st century doctrine is long overdue.
It's also clear that carrier groups are far from useless, especially when your "allies" start deciding you're not allowed to use airbases you built or fly over their countries.

I don't see why "the Pentagon figured out they should be spending more money on drones" is a big deal.
Because the other projects won’t get any budget cuts. This is just more wasteful spending to be israel’s military enforcer.
Why have useless aircraft carrier groups or effective drones when you can have useless aircraft carrier groups AND effective drones?

As long as they take the money out of the "Free Taxpayer Money for Israel" fund, I have no issues with this.
