It's been a while but I feel like when I was 9 years old, I would have gotten out of the car. Maybe the kid was special needs.

9 is old enough to know how to unbuckle your seatbelt and climb into the front seat. and those doors open even when the car is locked or in drive.

Depends, do you TRUST the parent that could do this, didn't mistreat their child enough that they were psychologically traumatised NOT to disobey and leave the car even at the cost of their life?

A manager at a job I had when I was young did this to his kid. The cops said he tied the kid's hands so he couldn't get out.
