Trump has made noises like this here and there for a while now. Meanwhile I just saw a story about ICE coming into a blueberry field and rolling everyone up. The situation is still in chaos.
I'm confident Stephen Miller wants to go after the pickers and room service illegals. The base needs to back him loudly and push our side. This will be a battleground during and after Trump.
I know a lot of farmers but I'm sick of their bellyaching about labor. At some point of hourly wages, Americans will take those jobs. I don't mind paying more for the end product either. A study came out that showed the impact would be less than Bidenflation IIRC.
It’s 2025, automated farms are a thing and have been for a decade, the technology is so good now they can even do blueberry bushels faster than any human. The ONLY reason the majority of farming hasn’t been automated is it’s a large 1 time cost (722 billion estimated for the entire country) and the US government is subsidizing cheap labor which makes it’s more profitable to not automate, it’s slavery and the industrial revolution all over again.

When you have John Deere putting DRM in tractors in a blatant attempt at rent-seeking, I don't necessarily blame farmers for being hesitant at adopting new technology. It sucks hard enough to be a farmer without having an entire harvest dependent on a fucking Authorized Technician™ 300 miles away.
Ok, I don't see the think the op does with that title compared to the post.
Trump just seems to saying he understands the Farmers and Hoteliers concerns but he needs to purge the criminal elements FIRST then look at the barriers of legal migration. Something he's been consistent on.
At some point you’ll have to accept Trump isn’t actually stopping or slowing third world immigration. H1Bs are increasing under Trump and this tweet is the exact same argument the left has made for years. This is 100% a preamble to expanding H2A visas at best.
I always got the impression Trump is personally closer to the chamber of commerce repubs in wanting cheap labor but he knows Americans are against that because it's not fair, so hes trying to strike a balance between finally enforcing immigration law to gain our trust, and then striking a deal for a guest worker program. He means well enough, like a boomer who thinks Reagan's amnesty would have been perfectly fine if the border had been enforced from that point on.
He’s for big business because that makes line go up. Mass immigration has been the real killer of the middle class, a mechanical engineer makes 57% starting salary of the exact same position in 1990 adjusted for inflation (the year before H1Bs started). It’s completely devalued skilled labor and unskilled labor alike.
And? H1Bs he signed for 2026 alone are going to outpace projected deportees this year. Reducing illegal immigration while ramping up the jeet invasion isn’t a victory.
H1Bs decreased during his last administration. Do you have a good basis for claiming they will increase next year? Please note that authorizing a certain number of visas does not mean they will be filled. I agree it's bad either way but I think it's highly unlikely current deportations will be lower than annual H1Bs.
Yes, I posted it here a month ago, he’s raised H1Bs by 126k for 2026. The current deportations are at 40k and are not projected to reach 100k this year.
There are a lot of guys who are nominally right wing but desperately want to lose, so they're going to constantly seize on anything they can use as a justification to bawl about how it's all over and we actually got grifted. They are spiritually exactly the same as the guys who are out breaking windows except much more cowardly and irritating.
At least libertarians are failing because they're too focused on the 'perfect'.
These guys sound disappointed we're NOT failing and dying awfully. Like those people so focused on thinking the end is coming but mad they got the date wrong.
You knew he was going to betray citizens like this and grant blanket amnesty when he sided with the tech oligarchs on the whole H-1B stuff back in December.
Reagan did it in '86. So did Clinton. So did both Bush's. Obama tried to but failed. The uniparty is always horny for open borders.
AI is going to automate the stuff they're importing bodies from India for. AI plus robotics is going to automate all the farm and service industry stuff.
We're just going to be stuck with 10s of millions of surly, ungrateful and violent 3rd world welfare cases when we're already going bankrupt.
Good jorb, Trump. Or more likely the people that are flattering him into doing it.
Agribiz wants cheap labor so they don’t have to front the money to automate and actually advance the agricultural industry. Even legal H2As are a cost burden on the government versus the corporate farms. I’d rather have automated farming than even temp visas since magically they get ignored the rest of the season and people stay to work year round.
So, what you're saying is, we know where they are?
Continue deportations, full steam ahead! Out, out, out!

Wow, automation came for the slaves. I'd tell them to learn to code, but they're also nursing assistants. Coding has a different meaning.
Hey now, those Filipinos would be real mad you called them Mexican
You can tell the difference by how they talk about chickens.
I'm afraid to ask what the difference is..... what is the difference?
Filipinos will treat a chicken like a beloved pet. A Mexican will treat a chicken like a nunchuck
Thank you

Not even slowing?? Have you seen the fucking border bro?

The jeets are less likely to criticize Israel
You don't get to leave out the millions who pour through the border each year when a deep state stooge is in the white house
You don’t get to pretend that matters when the supposed mass deportation candidate is importing more turds than removing.
You said he isn't slowing it down. That's clearly false when you factor in properly securing our border so just shut the fuck up already.
He’s slowing down illegal immigration of the third world and ramping up legal immigration of the third world, tell me, which is worse?

"Why haven't you checkmated him yet? It's been five moves!"
Patience.

Trump is disconnected from his base, who at this point want ALL immigrants out, even the legal ones.
Any farm that employs immigrants needs to be seized. If you aren't going to employ Americans in America, you have no business existing.
If voting worked it'd be illegal

makes zero sense
Nice, another stab in the back.
Every single illegal is a criminal and must all be deported.
He's basically saying that agribiz wants seasonal workers.
Yeah, we'll their not illegals.
That and we need to have conversation about the subsidy system that keeps Agribiz afloat.
That’s a can of worms that would be harder to undo than deporting all illegal immigrants.
True.
