Megumi Hayashibara -- the voice of Rei in Evangelion -- is dividing opinion with her latest blog...
Dividing between the Japanese and groups of locust/locus-adjacent individuals, by any chance? If someone claims to be Japanese, and yet decries someone saying Japan should remain Japanese, I have less than zero respect for you. Same goes for any group/nation/whatever.
No matter what culture, those fucking traitors are some of my least favorite groups of people.
So enamored with "progress" that they hate and seek to destroy everything that brought them to where they are; their country, their people, sometimes up to and including their own parents. They're loyal to nothing but Progress, and sometimes revenge, depending on history of the country in question. They've been overtaken with the brainrot, and often don't even realize the absolute evil they're perpetuating.
I imagine the complaints about foreigners are mostly about the Chinese, buying up properties and running them as Airbnb so they can get some sort of investment visa so they can get out of China. once they are there, they don't learn the language and culture and don't follow local rules and customs. Being rude and disgusting like how they acted back in China.
Sadly, Japan is experiencing numerous troubles. The Chinese are some of them, but they're under attack by all the usual suspects, as far as I can tell. If they don't right the ship, it won't even be a decade before mass immigration from Africa and the Middle East.
It's so fucking avoidable. Hopefully they'll take the hint and avoid it. It's a shame, I think they've already been coopted to some extent. A while back I think they deported all their immigrants from a certain region, after they tried to Culturally Enrich some native women. Now they seem to be on track to follow the rest of the West down the suicide pipeline. I hope saner voices prevail. I know there are saner voices...hopefully they're listened to.
And, well, as an American, hopefully America and the West can also claw back. We have a tougher fight, since we're already so far down the drain, but it's still possible.
Its Japan, so at least half of all conversations about foreigners are about Koreans. Almost any time there is an analogy or message about racism in Japanese media, its about Koreans.
Pakistanis and Indians too. They took over all the konbinis in my area.
Walking around at night now you'll see groups of the men wandering around in hoodies glaring at people or standing at the park entrance trying to start conversations with young girls.
Not sure kids are as safe as they were 5 years ago.
But, "dividing opinion" is just code for 'not being a fucking libtard,' and that has to be taken into account too. This is more about the opinions and biases of the person responding, than this voice actress's blog.
"Dividing opinion" is just one step removed from "you're a Nazi," and about as meaningful.
But just because some random English language tweet claims it's dividing opinion doesnt mean it really is. Could be 90%+ in her favor and they're framing it like it's near even.
That is what the media has always done too. Local news will call a proposal controversial because 3 people are protesting on the street corner and nobody else cares.
Asian women age so slowly that I thought this had to be Rei from Rebuild because she was too young to be original Rei. Nope, she is 58 and has been VAing since the 80s in things like the original Ranma.
And her both impressive resume and voicing so many obscenely popular characters (aka, obsessive Jap fanboys for defense) has likely made her unable to be cancelled, so she is speaking what a lot of others in her nation are probably unable to say.
Nope, she is 58 and has been VAing since the 80s in things like the original Ranma.
I thought she looked noticeably a little older than the current crop...but 58 is still shocking. Why is it they say "black don't crack," when Asians exist?
They really are built different. But, as the meme goes, when she does crack, she'll immediately look like a grandma, or even great grandma. And, that's fine. There's nothing wrong with looking old, when you're old.
Fifty-eight though, man. That's nuts. Thirties is believable, even twenties is, with a bit of persuasion. I'm sort of jealous...and I'm a dude.
Speaking as a Gaijin: Good. Prohibitions on gaijin help make a more cohesive society, and while that might curtail my theoretical rights, I also have the right not to be there in the first place.

Someone already posted a followup chart. All the violent crimes were Turkey cockroaches lmfao.

No, it's Bangladeshis.
It's literally Chinese people. Bangladeshis are doing it too, but at least in Osaka it is 100% Chinese (specifically Shanghai people)

They’ve been shifting away from the koreans to the kurds and bangladeshis. There’s quite a lot of them now in japan

I would have thought Chinese would be mentioned more than Koreans.
I lament the fact that such reasonable statements on respecting the native culture and prioritizing indigenous peoples are "dividing opinion".
Japan has a unique and wonderful culture, which should be respected, honored etc.
Very well put.

"[Insert right wing person here]'s post met with blowback on X"
Meanwhile the blowback is 2 accounts with a combined 50 followers getting ratioed into oblivion.
They're only dividing opinions between the normal people and the mongols.

Yellow don't mellow.
Asians have two routes. We look young until about our 40s, then we fall off a cliff and age terribly, or we look forever young.
Look up Nana Mizuki. Check her age, then look at how she looked from 10 or 20 years ago.
Also with Megumi Hayashibara she's already had TWO KIDS too.
Yoo, she's the voice actress of Lime from Saber Marionette. She's always been my favorite voice actress! And she's based? Let's goo!!
Also slayers lina
She's a VETERAN. She's voiced ALL kinds of things. She's older than all of us lol
Shes a 90s anime legend. Good to know shes based
And Lina Inverse, Ranma, Faye, Momo, Jessie, and a few hundred others I'm forgetting. She's about as prolific as VAs get.
Young Genkai (Yu Yu Hakusho) too, apparently.
Trve Reicism hours, we're so back
A direct link to the blog post itself.
I always did prefer Rei. Glad that her actress is based too
There are no bad girls in the show (except maybe Ritsuko)...but yeah, she's my favorite too.

Asuka fans in absolute shambles.
Japanese love white/european stuff, so does the koreans. Unfortunately, that means theyll follow the trends too.
