Huh, interesting - I’ve seen that game is in the middle of a “moment” right now, but haven’t looked too deeply into it otherwise (idek what genre its gameplay is lol) - if it can nail the themes and vibes in art like this though, I totally understand how it’s earned that moment
Its basically a spiritual successor to Legend of Dragoon or FFX, I've also heard Lost Odyssey but I haven't played that one.
But one of the reasons why it managed to reach its current heights is that it nails the "artistic" side long enough to hook you into the narrative. Lots of cutscenes confident enough to not have any dialogue and a composer dabbing on everyone.
It really is a show of what the turn based RPG genre could have become if Squeenix wasn't up its own ass, and it was made by 30 ex-Ubisoft employees on a passion quest.
Yeah I haven't played either, only seen the screenshots myself, but it looks a lot like those JRPGs with various colorful characters fighting a giant boss monster and that's the first thing I thought of looking at your art. :)
It looks like an Expedition 33 battle.
