Remember when fascism was about to kill communism but liberalism saved it with a ton of money and supplies?

Oh yeah but I'm sure the Soviets would have won without Lend Lease. Sure.

Even Stalin admitted it privately, according to Khrushchev's memoirs.

I used to discuss things like this with a communist friend (in Jr High, eh?).
"USSR had 100 tank divisions in 1945! They didn't need lend-lease."
"And how does that help them survive 1943? Or even 1944?"
"Because... reasons!"

Canada sent a ton of LL to Russia. Those trucks were invaluable, and even the crappy Valentine tanks were used everywhere. Russia had plenty of manpower but little mechanical weapons until 1944. Oh they made a ton too! And they promptly lost them, but no matter there was more on the way.

There are still lots of people in the world who think that the one hundred plus million pile of corpses directly attributable to communism is a bug, that the system can work without that.

They are wrong. Those bodies are a feature.

Communism has no other recourse to deal with the vast number of people who can't be compelled to give up being selfish. This is the central weakness of communism as a system, it has no answer for people who don't voluntarily play along. It must have a strong, totalitarian government to force everyone to play, and even then there will be those who won't, so communists simply kill them.

I always tell people that communism is an interesting idea: what if we all worked our very best, took only what we needed, and placed the good of society over our own selfish desires?

But it doesn't work (even a little bit) in practice. Selfishness and abuse of power are baked into the human psyche. The 1960s was rife with failed communes, proving even small scale implementation fails.

And this is where the left pisses me off to no end, because their entire political platform is based on half baked ideas and they just hand wave it away and double down on them when they inevitably fail.

Their belief that they are good people are interwoven with their political beliefs, which is why they don't understand trade offs, ignore downstream effects, and never think about 3rd order effects. Good intentions are what drives them, and because they are largely of the professional class, with university credentials, they think they are smart enough to think of everything.

Anyone who was forced to share with siblings knows it doesn't even work in the smallest social unit.

It works on the smallest scale (the family) because one provider gives resources to one distributor to oversee the fair portioning out to each of their needs. Your 6 year old doesn't earn their food, rent, utilities but their needs are supplied and they give what they are able. Beyond the immediate family, it falls apart.

There are still communes, lots of old hippies looking for fresh blood to come in and do all the work taking care of themselves and the old hands who have 'done their time' and get to be lazy now because they are in charge of everyone else's work now.

The more respectable economists very clearly made the point that selfishness or selflessness is not an option that effects optimal resource allocation; assuming current limits based off animal biology. Centrally directed humans could decide to be selfless, and fail to output enough harvest for society because farmers' supply chain collapsed. Such collapse is inevitable when participating agents aren't permitted to act on localized knowledge to decide actions. Communism is not just morally incompatible with primate psychology, it is mathematically impossible (without a Mother Brain provided with sufficient information and communication capacity).

▲ 4 ▼

That is a failure of command economies, which is very true, but I intentionally don't talk about that, because economics is just part of the communist system.

That is still the surface level characteristic. Where you pretend leadership actually wants to pursue the propaganda of a communist utopia. Communism, like all leftist ideologies, is a tool that sociopaths use to gain power. It requires strong centralized power, and like all systems is vulnerable to corruption. And since it lends itself to totalitarianism, and has a religious element to convince the horde of useful idiots, it is nearly ideal for a sociopath.

No leftist system of government can survive inevitable corruption. That is why all leftism fails. Decentralized and limited government is less vulnerable to sociopaths and less capable of causing damage to society.

Are we pretending that communism wasn't implemented/ existed? Communism was evil because it was evil, it was an authoritarian hellhole where you could not have unapproved opinions, you had no freedom on how to spend your money, constant monitoring by the state and you could not own your own house. Liberalism is guilty of being infiltrated by communism and moving us towards the same ideals but with the added benefit of mass immigration - meaning there is no turning back.

That's exactly what these people want. Just look at everything they do and how they behave. Elon is evil now, and you're not allowed to own a tesla.

Communism is bad no matter who is in charge. You can't have communism and allow freedom of speech, freedom to make money or to own a house and relies on indoctrination and fear to maintain power. Communism can't have an alternative or it is not going to work on any large scale.

Communism is tolerated because people are willing to give up their freedom if things are good but it is still an abusive relation that is being forced.

One could argue China's pretty much that nowadays, very much focus on national pride and the government is authoritarian as fuck. I probably should've worded it differently, more like communism and their ilk cause fascism to rise in power. Perfect example is in Germany where communists were openly fighting in the streets, then there was the reichstag burning. Maybe my wording was wrong with in charge.

I think you, as well as many many others, confuse authoritarianism with fascism.

Rome was fascist. The USA was founded as a fascist state.

Fascism is a word that has been 1984'd so hard over the last 80 years, it's fucking insane.

The "right people" have never been near the command structure of Communist nations: they get weeded out long before that.
By design, communism allows the scum to rise to the top while hard working honest politicians get shit-kicked out of the system.

In WWII the US supplied our Russian "friends" with the following items via Lend-Lease:

  • 400,000 jeeps and trucks
  • 14,000 airplanes
  • 8,000 tractors
  • 13,000 tanks
  • Over 1.5 million blankets
  • 15 million pairs of army boots
  • 107,000 tons of cotton
  • 2.7 million tons of petroleum products
  • 4.5 million tons of food

Oh, and the US and its allies also fought Germany in the Atlantic, North Africa, and Western Europe. But yeah, Stalin basically won the war by himself. Asshole.

Don't forget we were doing the same for Britain, giving them massive amounts of aid and war material, while we pretended to be "neutral". And as you pointed out, we were also attacking German boats en masse. This was happening before Pearl Harbor, and an official declaration of war.

I'm just trying to imagine us producing those things in those numbers in any time frame under decades at the present moment.

And that's not even including what went to Britain, or eventually into the US' own war effort.

It's staggering. Almost as staggering as the number of bodies stalin sent to the front lines with lines behind them to shoot deserters dead. Yeah, there was a lot of material, but the human capital is obscene. It's fucking shocking what it actually took to stop Germany.

And for what? So the bankers could wring their hands and get their interest payments.

no, but I remember when communists successfully convinced ninety percent of the world that fascism was right-wing, and not just a more realistic formulation of communism...

Edit: to preemptively clarify: both are terribly unrealistic, one is just slightly less awful.

Yup, I've always said fascism is just more honest communism.

Communism promises 'power to the people' via the State. A ridiculous idea that will never work, due to the nature of man.

Fascism promises power to the State, for the good of the people. Also a fairly ridiculous concept, but much less so and, like I said, is at least more honest about who will wield the power. Fascism just cuts out the middleman.

"Power to the people, via government" is one of the stupidest concepts ever. It's also uncomfortably close to our current alleged system...well, so is fascism.

Point is, government will accumulate and abuse power. Communism lies and acts like that won't happen, and it's actually the people in charge.

According to Marxist–Leninist thought, the goal of the communist state is to abolish the state, not give "power to the people via the state".

Yeah, but communists are retards, so I don't really care about the theory, I care about, to use one of their favorite words...praxis.

It doesn't matter what they say, what matters is what Not Real Communism™ does every...single...time...it's implemented.

"True communism" wouldn't even have a state, sure, but that's never what they try to do, and real world communism has an incredibly strong state, so that's what I'll pay attention to and cite.

I'll stop calling communists statists as soon as communists stop advocating for top down nonsense at gunpoint, and join me in calling for government to get out of our lives, which makes it easier for them to fuck right off and go live on communes, or whatever. They just don't get to force me into their schemes.

It is the goal of liberal politicians in the US.

Weather Underground was/is a literal domestic terror group that wanted/wants to overthrow the US government in favor of communism. They are responsible for putting Obama and Friends into power.

They tried to disassemble the country financially for the NWO these last few years.

Yes, communism is the goal of our globalist liberal politicians.

There's also fans of Stalin who claim that Russia ended the war in Japan, not the Bomb! 😋🙄 That is idiotic of course. Japan had already written off their continental holdings & snuck all the good troops and equipment to defend their Home Islands. They had a good 50-100% more troops & aircraft than the highest Allied estimates of 1945.

Russia had NO amphibious capacity anywhere, even less in the Pacific. Defenders say "They had 100,000 paratroopers to land anywhere in Japan!" No they did not. Their aircraft did not have enough range to reach anywhere but a small part of Japan. They also had no long-range fighter escorts. Japan had 2,000+ combat aircraft & would have shot half the invasion force down at a minimum. No tanks or artillery in meaningful numbers, I'd give the paratroopers 4 days even if they all made it to the landing zone. They'd be slaughtered.

The Allied plan for invading the southern island, Olympic, had 42 carriers, 26 battleships and 400 escorts. They'd land 700,000 men in total (over the course of 4-5 days) with some tanks and lots of trucks, jeeps and artillery too. They had no idea how extensive Japan's defense of that beach was. They expected 100K dead and 400K wounded for the entire "Downfall" & capture of Japan. They'd have taken that just from Olympic, minimum.
