Sure, but do you know what that sounds like to me? Do what thou wilt with extra steps. A veneer of Christianity while endlessly fomenting the heresies of the day. Not to mention an environment in which it is nigh impossible to actually pass down andu functioning moral code to my children. You are blind if you do not see this. Protestantism, like right wing government, is FAR more effective at gatekeeping by way of decentralization. One corrupted church doesn't even get a foot in the door at the next down the road. One corrupted pope commands your entire organization.
