The banality of evil is what always makes it so hard to swallow. It makes sense to be evil for real gain, real change, real something simply because you can see the temptation.

It is banal and, yes, petty and childish...but you can still see the gain they're going for; self aggrandizement, and a feeling of purpose and superiority. They need to be the Good Guys, that's the motive.
So there's definitely gain. It's not monetary, it's not exactly power (although you need power to push this on others), but it's just as important to them. It's building their very Self. It's their identity.

That is the petty and childishness I was talking about it. That is the most weak and teenage form of gain imaginable. That's talking about "finding yourself" as if that's a fucking thing that you can do.
Its a woman throwing away her 40 year marriage and family for a one night fling with a foreign dude. You can see the "gain" of it, but its still the type of gain only a hedonistic child would commit acts of evil for.
Even the Elites committing acts of truly massive evil is banal, simply because its often for money when they are already richer than they could ever spend.

However, since this is the CULTURE war, shitcanning him could be even more damaging to them than any financial loss. This is a batte of 'it's OK to be white' vs 'it's not OK to be white'. I thought about dropping in on the Steam forums the other day and stirring the pot with a couple of posts mentioning the anti-white agenda - turned out this pot couldn't be any more stirred already, and judging by the content of the posts most of it is organic, just as we know that the anti-woke backlash in general is organic. But just like a retreat in a land war risks collapsing an entire front, to abandon this guy and empower these posters risks validating the entire pro-white solidarity perspective which they've desperately assured us is unwarranted, because there is no anti-white agenda. Well if there is none, what could he possibly be fired for? 'Unprofessionalism'? lol fuck off, his bosses were cool with his posts. They can't spin this one if they fire him, because everyone knows that he'd getting fired for being the kind of drooling fanatic whose ilk have repeatedly and recently tried to murder Trump.
So I suspect they're going to try and hide him and stay quiet, but I'm not sure that that's viable either. Too many eyes are on this now. Especially in the wake of Veilguard, etc. this is the perfect storm for a showdown. Every piece of promo that Avowed receives needs to be met with angry reminders and ridicule, demands for discount vouchers for black customers, demands for 'crusty' options in the character creator, and the like.

I'm afraid that the reality of the situation is that Obsidian needs to close as a studio, and the people involved in any of the DEI stuff need to be black-listed by good developers as genuine threats to the workplace. Their careers need to die.
You can't just get rid of these people. It's no different from having Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold be the Vice Principal of Columbine High School. They're not just going to leave without a fight, and even if you purge the institution, one or two will remain, secretly hidden, desperately seeking to actively sabotage you.
