Minecraft is the best selling video game of all time. If the movie is remotely tolerable it will make real money from real people, no laundering involved.

I wanted to day drink after watching this earlier today. Not even joking, it ruined my afternoon. Goddamn corpos turning everything in to slop, and friends/family/coworkers gushing over how "fun" it looks just amplifies how much this goddamn ip mined cash grab does not need to exist.
Nothing is sacred, everything is content, and Jack Black is Jack Black.
This kind of reminded me of the god awful Jumanji movie with the rock. Similar composition of characters, exploding a "new and whacky world". Can we just not? I'd rather watch the old Lego stop motion which is actually still pretty good and that had a much smaller budget but way more soul.
I assumed as much, but still appreciate the images of Karen Gillan in that costume it caused.
It was a decent movie, I didn't hate watching it.
My kids loved the Jumanji movie. THey were also less than 10 at the time, so not exactly a high bar.
I thought it was fine. I don't remember anything terribly objectionable, and I do like The Rock sometimes.
The issue isn't that it's a bad movie per se, the issue is that it has the name Jumanji. I love Robin Williams, even in bad movies he was the one that shined the brightest. And to have the same name as the classic movie is kinda my issue with it, there'll be people(read: NPCs) who will claim the old movie is no longer needed cuz "we got one with the rock now". I just don't think there's any need for this movie to exist at all, nor is it a really, really good movie where I'd have no issue with it existing. It's one of those post 2015 mediocre movies that don't do anything special.
I got that vibe from the trailer too.
So bets on if this'll flop like Borderlands? As why watch this when you can see Sonic 3 instead if you're that desperate to see a video game film?

Minecraft is primarily played by kids now-a-days. It could very well be the 'safe' thing to take your kids to as a parent, depending on what else is on offer in the movie theaters at the time.
If they time it correctly, they may even recoup their (minimal) investment. And don't forget that Barbie is of similar quality. And the Emoji movie made 217 million worldwide.
Opening the trailer with "what the hell" in a kids movie is a red flag.

I.. am very confused by the ogre man in the pink jacket. I can't pinpoint at all where they are going with that character. Bonus points for the token sassy fat black chick though. I thought that to be an extinct breed.
I'm glad to say I watch so little normie content I didn't realise the screens I saw was from a minecraft movie. I'm very happy about that.
I wonder if this will be accidentally based with the pigs being the enemy, like the angry birds movie was.
Sadly I think it will be a little woke as opposed to overly woke. There's a sad unhappy medium where people will gladly watch woke propaganda and take their kids to it if it's "entertaining"

Iirc it's the name of the default main character you play.
Just looks like another Jumanji take and the new ones dont have much rewatchability for me anyway. Only funny thing was the popular girl in the Jack Blacks body. And this is probably even worse, Momoa wearing a pink jacket a sassy girl and fat black woman. Yeah surely the minecraft audience can identify with that.
