Here's the thing; Barbie did incredibly well while being chock full of woke crap. Why? It was marketed towards women.
The fact is, women want woke. The only reason it ruins superhero movies is because men don't; they'll put up with it to get their laser-explosion fix, but they don't want it. The reason they cram it into those movies is to a) ruin heroic stories and b) feminize men.
Ironically, while women will go see a woke movie because it's something they want, more and more they aren't seeing it again after that first time because they don't actually enjoy it. It's the classic truism of "women don't know what they want".
I've not seen it or much of the promotional material but some people say it was misleadingly marketed. I'm sure the memes, in particular "barbenheimer", helped gin up interest.
