The games industry is shit, Hollywood is shit, so learn Blender, game engines and make your own shit
You'll have more fun making your own stuff and knowing it will at least be even half-decent compared to the absolute crap the industry is churning out these days will keep up the motivation. Rather than constantly getting your hopes up and setting yourself up for disappointment and expecting somebody to rescue you.
I disagree completely, I think that's typical marketing pull up the ladder behind you bullshit that the big studios put out in order to discourage gamers from rebelling against them. I'm not writing about making the next Skyrim or anything because that would be extremely difficult even with modern software, those kinds of games lean heavily on asset creation and long term design, but game dev has become so much more accessible now I feel like way more people should be getting involved rather than complaining about the state of things.
These games are not as complicated as devs make them out to be and I've been discovering that for myself with my research. Now 3D box selection maths and AI or procedural generation, that's a fucking bugger to get through. When you think of game development, you're clearly thinking of the huge titles like Red Dead, when even mid-tier sized games are entirely doable by small teams or one person.
That's all about organisation and understanding scale.
