They're not sick of it. They'll insist on it for movies they're laundering money for that are released in the west. But they're going to ban it for internal consumption.
Their game plan is to collapse western society on the cheap.
I will take any responsibility if this was a bad source to pick up on (I have an odd feeling I'm going to get downvotes for it), but I saw this on boundingintocomics.com and thought I might share it here, since I feel it shows just how much goodwill disney is blowing with the chinese market they are pining for, like Blizzard before them.
Who the fuck cares what China thinks?! They've never liked diversity. Their resounding hatred of black people and gays combined with the strict standards limiting what foreign products can be released in their country (and how many per year) prove that. It's just a weapon they like to utilize against their enemies to make them weaker while they bolster themselves up.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this stance, and it's one of the main reasons I still watch movies that come out of mainland China.
Yeah, you're right. I do see the odd right winger who unironically likes modern China every now and then (Vox Day being a notable example) for reasons like that, but I think there's lots of good reasons why we don't like them.
Disney seems just to be making this movie for the American woke audience first and foremost, as a possible explanation, so I don't know if they are relying on the Asian market for this to make it big or not. I don't know if the backlash will carry it to box office success or not just yet like how Velma got a second season, but let's keep our heads low about it and pray it flops.

ESG money > chinese money i guess. China is usually half a movie's income.
Its sad.. people seeing little mermaid. I bet half the conservatives take their kids to see it lawl.
