Also there's no indication of a relationship between the two anyway. She married John Rolfe when she was 18.

Leftists comprehending a society with values that don't align perfectly with neo Marxist current thing morals. Challenge rating: impossible

I am more worried about their education. I was aware of Pocahontas and the history. Didn’t she move to England with her husband though? Also you shouldn’t take any history course from someone who despises the west.

I just respond with all the things non western empires or tribes have done. I remember one person didn’t believe me when I told them that Africa loved having slaves. Or that the Spanish got help from the neighboring tribes to conquer the Aztecs because the Aztecs has been attacking them

Good point. I try to avoid debates like that but sometimes I see something so dumb I can’t resist responding but I need to learn to just ignore it

She barely met Smith and the entire romance was by him writing smutty adventure logs later in life. She married another guy and died at a young age with children. The children survived and their descendents are still around.

Oh yes. It’s been a long time since that 5th grade lesson lol. But I do remember the name John Smith and the fact she married another guy.

There was a second Pocahontas movie by Disney. It talked about the other marriage. Somehow the Twitter historians forgot about this one.

Most people only know she even exists because of the movie, and then her actual history from people smugly responding like this. Otherwise, no education system would even bother bringing her up.

Back in the 90s when it was popular to "ACKSHUALLY" the topic, it probably was in very broad strokes the history. With a lot of emotional language and context missing.

And now it has reached 9 degrees of separation from that, where she was being raped by dozens of white men a day before being married to a rapist for a bead.

You’d expect people who always say people need to “learn the history” to take their own advice. Pocahontas did not marry John Smith. She married John Rolfe, who was nine years older than her, when she was about 18 (her exact birthdate is obviously somewhat speculative.)

The other link said that also wasn't her first marriage, that she was married to an Indian man 4 years earlier.

I had to look up the history of Pocahontas because I don’t know jack shit about her except from the Disney movie. Doing a quick search this is the first link that came up

Feel free to post your opinions because judging from this it does not line up at all with what those Twitter retards are spouting.

It was the Virginia colonies. They didn't survive so much as got new people every year until the other tribes warred themselves to death. There's a reason why we talk about Plymouth Rock instead of the Virginia colonies in USA history class.

Why stop at one princess ? Clearly Disney is a white supremacists, racist, misogynistic, buzzword, helicopterist, incel, terf loving, other buzzwords company that deserves to be the target of mostly peaceful protests against their vile revisionism of history.

Just look at all those black inspired characters and see how Disney changed them ! We Wuz Proncesseesss N Shiet.

Now go and peacefully protest at Disney while I go get some popcorn

History is written by the winners and those in power, remember that. The truth well if it’s written down at all is gonna be damn hard to find.

Translation: “My grandma said that no matter what they told me in school, Pocahontas was abducted and raped to death by whitey. As a toddler. Oh, and that she was black.”

You know what’s not hard to find? Stupid brainlet takes from retards online. Their evidence? They made it the fuck up.

I like how they had to throw "MMIW" in there, to make sure to tie it to modern politics and movements.

Because it clearly wasn't to abbreviate it, as they had to spell it out anyway. They just want it to legitimize the modern political movement overtaking the entire Mexican Woman demographic with fear mongering (to keep them in line with the white women).

Just drop enough heroin into the reservations and that problem will sort itself out.

It's one of the saddest things in the world hearing about the "noble indian" when you're younger and imagining their reservations as being rich in spirit and heritage, vast swathes of turquiose-beaded teepees harmoniously nestled in the bossom of nature, at one with it even - "Hey I want to visit the indian reservation someday!" you say to yourself.

You then later realize you've actually passed it most of your early childhood, that rundown trailer park covered in heroin needles and piss stench matresses where your uncle buys illegal fireworks? That's the reservation. You were projecting how whites and asian/orientals like to live in the places important to their cultural heritage.

Dances with Wolves? More like "Dances on Meth".

They have to live off the government teat, or if they are lucky the Casino.

Even though the government teat is not supposed to exist. No one is stopping them from building their own infrastructure and housing, building companies, etc. Even more so the ones who got casinos did fuck all for the tribe and blew the money faster than it came in like lottery winners. I’ve known plenty of people who left the reservations because it’s a shithole of socialism. Hell one of my old drinking buddies was a full on cripple (needed two forearms crutches to walk) and he’s a store manager who fled the reservation because it’s a dead end.

Yeah, despite all the fuckery the government did to them (and they certainly got the bad end of a lot of sticks), most chose not to pull themselves out of the pit they were in for generations now. Preferring instead to just drink themselves to death with nothing but centuries divorced "heritage" clinging to their name.

The tribes who got nothing, because the government didn't even recognize them, are doing far better off than those who got the reparations and attention.
