It’s amazing how many people don’t understand what asylum means. I worked in immigration for a while and there is a specific definition with specific criteria. I understand someone may want a better life but that isn’t a reason for asylum regardless of what the news says
this is why they protested the idea of even having asylum interviews.
in the interview, they take what the claimant said, and ask whether, assuming it's entirely, 100%, unequivocally true, does that even qualify for asylum? for the incredible majority of border hoppers, the answer is no.
asylum is not for just any border hopper. asylum doesn't apply to general crime rates, general cartel violence, or any sort of cartel threats or violence that's unaffiliated with the government. asylum is not for the abusive ex. and asylum is not for lack of work, shelter, or food in their own country.
instead, the subverters demand that we take these people in, house them indefinitely, or release them inside the country, and then do full investigatory hearings, knowing that over 90% of claimants will be rejected. their goal is to overload the system, forcing release inside the country.
the subverters are also demanding that border hoppers should be able to retroactively claim asylum after they've been caught committing border hopper crimes. these people travel hundreds or thousands of miles to get to the border, but can't make it to an official entry? that's bullshit.
for the incredible majority of border hoppers, the answer is no.
Honestly I am even fine with some of the border hoppers. "I have family here, look my brother - who sits outside - has been living here for 5 years and is willing to stand bail for me and help me."
We have such a system (standing bail / "Bürgschaft") in Germany. Tons of idiots (random Germans) did it for many asylum seekers - thinking they were only responsible for the people until they got asylum. They organized flights to Germany, paid rent & food.
Well of course they didn't read the fine print (which means: read anything at all). You are required to take care of the person after asylum is granted. Pay for their rent, pay for their monthly "unemployment money" (Hartz4).
Woops.
The article I'm reading to refresh my knowledge mentions a Syrian who has been in Germany for 20 years.
He stood bail for his parents, 2 siblings & their families. He works in a drugstore (difficult to translate, not a pharmacy, but cleaning/beauty products and stuff like that).
And his opinion about this all?
'The Syrian is angry: "If my family had come via the Balkan route with smugglers, I would be fine. But because I'm an idiot and chose the official route, I have to pay the price.'
Okay - after reading about stuff like this again - I changed my mind. No exception for country hoppers due to family.
This sentiment is absolutely common among legal immigrants. They hate illegals more than anyone else, because they know most of them are degenerate criminal trash that don't want to actually immigrate, and only want to steal money, and are the exact people the legals were trying to get away from. Frankly, it's one of the reasons that enforcing immigration laws hasn't hurt the Republicans that much against Hispanic voters. Many of those voters are legal immigrants and want those immigration laws enforced. Democrats just assumed that no "brown" would ever want border control. Meanwhile Mexicans are actively demanding their own government stop hosting an open border to shuffle people to the US.

Not only do they want them enforced. They want them enforced more hardcore than most Whites do. Your typical Right-Wing White person would probably just say "Have a wall, deport those in, and we are good."
There are a not insignificant amount of Hispanics who say "Have a wall, with automated kill turrets, minefields, and a moat that has sharks with frickin' laser beams! And if they are already in the country, yeet them back over the border with a catapult."
Iceland's pretty based. They are a Danish colonists, and Denmark has always been wary of foreigners (particularly Germans) intentionally colonizing and subverting their country. Iceland is even more isolated, homogenous, localist, and culturally unified than Denmark is; and has a very "fuck you go away I don't care how tough you think you are, we eat fermented shark" attitude to even European powers. The Icelanders even challenged the Royal Navy and British fishing industry.
They were probably seeing what happened to Germany, Ireland, England, Sweeden, Norway, and Denmark; and were like: "Oh shit. ICELAND STANDS ALONE"
I'm guessing the UN is going to step in and back them down. Once you open that door they make it impossible to close it and go back to being a sovereign nation.
They're still taking "asylum seekers" and it says that this only triggers if their applications are rejected. This bill doesn't go far enough. This isn't even a good start, this is a pressure valve to make the populace think something is being done.
Iceland is a special country where these types of things pass quite often due to its small size and that size keeping things very homogeneous throughout.
Like if a your own personal three county area was its own independent government.

I love when "asylum seekers" visit the fucking countries they came from.
Yeah, you're not a asylum seeker. You're not a refugee.
I remember having to explain to people why they could lose their status if they visit the country they claimed was persecuting them.
If you have to explain this to someone then they don't need asylum.
You would think so.
Did you have orders from above to explain that? Leaving that part out would have solved part of the problem.
We would explain that they could lose their asylum status by traveling to their home country. We were instructed to say what could happen.

And you have shady lawyers telling people at the border to claim asylum regardless
Those are the subverters.

This is one of the many reasons that BPD is majority hispanic.
I just want to have an asylum policy that is as based as Starfleet's
"I will certainly grant you asylum... when you have been absolved of this crime."
That would honestly fix at least half of the west's immigration problems.
30 days? Why not 1 day after being rejected as they're put on a military plane and airdropped over mogadishu?
Don't even need to airdrop them. Land at Baledogle Airfield and escort them to the front gate.
Fuck em.
Sounds great but I'm assuming there was some incidents that led to this getting the support to pass?
Publicly admitting there is a problem means you are a xenophobic racist.
They'd rather quietly change things and blame you for speaking up about it.

It's actually not bad, granted you follow it with a few drinks, though that's already a given when you're in Iceland.

i don't really see how anyone could show up to iceland with a credible asylum claim anyway.
Iceland has always had a spine, they're a bit different.
That's something. Even extremely liberal countries are pushing back on this crap.
Iceland is small enough that its government is almost representative.
It's a bug in the globalist control matrix. Nothing to see here.
Iceland is a special country where these types of things pass quite often due to its small size and that size keeping things very homogeneous throughout.
Like if a your own personal three county area was its own independent government.
Localist countries are great because you can yell at the Prime Minister, at his house, because he lives over there.
This is how you show you aren't replacing your people
Not exactly. You know how you get to the country you are claiming asylum to while also still technically being in the country you are escaping?
Go to the embassy and claim asylum like real asylum seekers.
