It'll make thrillers more suspenseful, the protagonists trying to flee in a EV, the villain chasing in a petrol pick up, you wondering if there's enough charge in the EV..
It's product promotion because Tesla have more brand recognition for EV and Netflix needs the money and GM need the attention. This is the lightest story only because there's a Chinese spy balloon still flying around.
I see it going the other way. The villain having a silent EV sneaking up on people and never running out of energy while the protag keeps needing to stop to refill.
The EV will never break down no matter how much abuse you put on it, and the protag finally escapes when they steal the EV from the villain.
Bonus points for the last scene being the protag in the EV looking in the rear view...camera at the villain tryin to catch up and then turning the camera off. Cue camera pan to the protag for a smile and wide shot of the front of the car for marketing.

All this with a side of "story....what story?"
That was a plot point in Weeds: a gang drove Priuses because they could sneak up on a drive-by shooting target.
