Also Buffy is quite disliked after becoming the slayer. She goes from bubbly likable teenager to vampire hunter. And she trains a lot, even in the movie she trained most of the time. And she and other slayers lost a lot. Buffy wasn't a Mary Sue.
The Slayer has supernatural powers to be able to fight vampires. And there is an episode with Buffy training Dawn and Buffy says the most important thing to remember in fighting vampires is they have the power. So even the ultimate manifestation of vampire killers knows she is behind the eight ball.

Put a woman who's somewhat attractive, a little feminine, and men will watch.

And if you try to push the show mostly to men, then feminists show up and absolutely destroy your female characters. If she's sexy they attack that. I have many many issues dating back to the mid 70s. I enjoyed comics until they got ahold of them and felt the need to destroy everything they touch.

They'll eventually be given the boot, and someone with some level of talent will pick up the pieces and rebuild the ashes. We're already seeing parts of that with the independent scene, as well as a single manga trouncing all of western comic sales, selling out in record time with their fun and imaginative creations, while Marvel and DC have to force comic book stores to close because no one is buying those anymore.

I have many many issues dating back to the mid 70s. I enjoyed comics until they got ahold of them and felt the need to destroy everything they touch.
But they can't ruin what it was, just what they're distorting it to be.
They'll eventually be given the boot, and someone with some level of talent will pick up the pieces and rebuild the ashes. We're already seeing parts of that with the independent scene, as well as a single manga trouncing all of western comic sales, selling out in record time with their fun and imaginative creations, while Marvel and DC have to force comic book stores to close because no one is buying those anymore.
Bingo. I only buy older marvel and dc comics now but I bought Eric July’s comic along with Alterna and will look for more indies to buy. Also bought my first mangas a few weeks ago abc will be diving into that.

Buffy was a massive success because Joss Whedon could, back then, freely admit that he wanted to see a nubile 16 year old piece of ass beating up vampires who all want to fuck her before they eat her.
Buffy can't be made again today because that open, honest, simple, straight-to-the-point hook is now a no-go with fat, blue-haired commies who cant stand looking at a better looking girl than themselves. They would mandate that Buffy be recast some as some unfuckable black chick with a weird shaped head and no ass or tits. Everyone knows that that would be a complete fucking bomb, and that's why we haven't seen a buffy remake.

The undeniable fact is that the audience for these movies is mostly male. And they're not going to pay money to sit and watch a homely woman lecture them about how bad they are just because she's wearing a cape.

Women makes up 49% to 51% of the population based on where you are, a purely female audience will absolutely do great at the box office. Women don't want to watch it.
Feminism can convince women to say they want to watch it...can convince them to watch it once or twice...but that's where their influence over women ends, women simply don't like watching women in a superhero roles.
