I've kind of gone more nuanced on it after I heard a lot of arguments from people not just shouting at me (which 99% of the time is leftists)
I got no problem with legal 'marriage' like a civil partnership, it'd be good if they adopted the same relationship roles as straight couples as we see how destructive it is when straight women abandon marriage
But there's two issues, one is that the 'gay community' that fought for it aren't accepting it themselves and are still engaging in the degenerate ways of old
The second issue is how it's used as a wedge to push toxic left ideology like trans, diversity, inclusion etc. Unless the 'gay community' ends and gay is no longer an identity but an aspect of it, you cannot allow samesex marriage, sorry for the long explanation.
religions should do what they want to do regards their own marriage and marriage-like systems governments should only interfere when its fucked up (child marriages)
all a government should do regards marriage is have the protections for married people that most countries already have and if they want to extend those protections to same sex couples I don't have much to complain about
the problem is when the governments force the religions to accept the gay and/or the gay just keeps being a bunch of promiscuous freaks
I had a gay co-worker once who hated the gay community and called pride inane faggotry hes probably in his 60s or 70s now so he was probably involved in a lot of the early gay rights stuff before it became the freakshow it is today
Of course that's why I made the distinction of saying 'legal marriage' only civil partnership where you aquire all the legal and financial benefits of marriage by the state but it's a distinct thing seperate from any religious practice.
But as I said and probably agree with your former co worker, if they don't accept the social roles assigned to marriage and continue the degeneracy, then we should just stop listening and give them the cold shoulder.
