'Shang-Chi' Star Simu Liu Dismisses Quentin Tarantino And Martin Scorsese As Racist "Gatekeepers" For Their Criticism Of The MCU...
Marvel actor Simu Liu has responded to Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese's MCU criticisms by accusing them of being racist gatekeepers.
The Golden Age of Hollywood was full of stories of heroism and self-sacrifice. Those themes are universal across cultures, per Joseph Campbell's research on the monomyth/hero's journey. The MCU up through Phase 3, was probably the last mainstream, contemporary example of this. Now, heroes act more like villains in hero's clothing. They're self-absorbed, petty, and arrogant. We're expected to see those as positive traits because the characters belong to the right identity groups.
