My parents moved down to my area a few years back for retirement and recently I found in their garage an old vhs I had used to record the sci-fi channel in the early 90s. I took it over a friend’s house who has a vcr and we watched it. Brought back good memories but also couldn’t help but he annoyed because it just highlighted the trend of buying out companies that cater to a specific fan base only to crap on that fan base in the name of “progress”

Sadly not a phenomenon limited to the SocJus type of progress. SyFy and other channels used to buy out shows that had been doing well and then fucked about with the timing slots condemning things to a forgotten death in the early hours of the morning. It's just a different flavour of shit now.
Is that what they did with Alphas?
Now I'm remembering the episode with Brent Spiner. That was amazing acting.
The doctor standing behind Spiner and blowing on his coffee mug before throwing it was an amazing detail because the echo location Spiner's character was using would not have been able to see whether there was actually steam rising from the cup or not so had to react based on the limited, if still extrasensory, stimuli he had.
And the sort of jump scare the team gets when they check out the cctv and realise the blind spot assassin is there the enite time made that a very interesting episode from the 2 seasons we got of that show.
Then again Summer Glau was in it do maybe we should have known it was going to get cancelled just like Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles. 🙄
I loved the mind control character and how difficult it was for her to choose morality.
Fuck you for reminding me about Alphas :( I loved that show and it is ended on such a stupid cliffhanger.
Sorry! I actually want to watch it but can’t find it. I’m surprised that they never tried to resolve it.
would you believe me if i told you that i learned alphas was canceled watching the big bang theory?
I had learned about it before that and that episode reminded me I had meant to watch it. But now I don’t know where to find it
I did the same thing- used to record Farscape because it was on while I was at work. The sci fi channel was so good in those days.
I love Farscape. Hope they don’t try to reboot it. Sci-Fi channel also got me into the old stuff and they had those 80s anthologies like amazing stories, tales from the Darkside, 80s TZ, monsters, etc
I bought the dvd collection of Farscape years ago and it vanished at some point. I wonder if it got left with an ex despite her asking at the time for me to not buy her it as a gift.
I bought it for both of us instead 👀
i used to record adult swim and watch it after school
I love aqua teen, sea lab, and more
Sealab 2021 was one of the funniest shows of all time.
And then Harry Goz died.
