Funfact: The moderators of your server can read your DM's, and they are stored unencrypted.
So can Twitter admins.
The difference is that twitter admins are employees of a corporation, and mastodon admins are whichever rando wants to run a server, plus his best friends.
Until some rando buys out a mastodon shard and then the admins become employees of a corp. No difference really.
