I live in California, in the US, and the Democrats here have been absolutely obsessed with trying to build high speed rail. It's stalled because of the astronomical projected costs, and even if it were completed, the tickets would not even be competitive with the already-cheap plane tickets between Los Angeles and San Francisco, despite the fact that the high speed rail would be much slower and less convenient.
The project has been widely described as troubled,[6][7] being far behind schedule and suffering from management turmoil, problems with procuring land, and engineering issues;[8][9] in 2019, Governor Newsom announced there was no path to complete the route L.A.-S.F.[10] In addition, the cost of the project has risen from an estimate of $33 billion in 2008 to $93.5 billion by 2022.[8] According to a poll in April 2022, 56 percent of California voters supported continuing the project, while 35 percent opposed continuing it.
My girlfriend wants to move to Florida. We will probably move to Florida or Texas in the next 2 years. This is a growing trend where conservatives are abandoning blue states in droves and moving to red states.
I was stationed in Coronado, California is a shithole, period. Everything you just listed is completely unejoyable. The weather is stagnant, car pile ups occur anytime it rains, the food is entirely mediocre to anyone who has traveled. The people are horrendous to the point you can expect filth and shit everywhere. Alcoholism and drug abuse is the closest thing to a personality out there. Well that and most women being pregnant by the time they turn 18. It’s a man made shit hole.
That's the important thing for me. I like the idea of a train because you can just walk up to the platform, get on and go. You can get off the train at any stop you want. It would be great if they reformed the flying experience so you could do the same thing with planes. Some people are scared of flying. I don't mind that part. What I absolutely HATE is airports. There are many reasons for my hate but security theater is the biggest reason. I don't see that going away, and if we duplicated that system for high speed trains then I no longer see the benefit over flying.
Honestly we should have flying "cars" by now. Tech is there, it's lack of regulation for ad-hoc drone corridors in cities that's holding it back.
I did. The youtuber thinks that rail is going to get better in the future, but that's just speculation. I don't agree with him at all that rail is going to suddenly have a cost revolution the way air did with deregulation.
The simple fact of the matter is that rail is absolutely getting blown the fuck out by air travel right now, and the longer the distances are, the more air dominates.
That is why California trying to build high speed rail from LA to SF is such a stupid and wasteful idea. Even if it ever gets completed, it's going to be grossly inferior to taking a plane.

My condolences
California has some of the best geography, climate, and food/amenities in the world.
The down side is that it's run by libtards that tax everything that moves.
Yep. I've been there, and I loved the weather. It's such a tragedy what happened to that state.

the train can't even go full speed for the majority of the track.
I just like trains, ok?
Trains are stinkbait for bugmen, it's crazy.
Didn't watch the whole video, did you? The video is actually pretty optimistic about the future of rail in Europe.

was looking how to get from the north of England to london
was cheaper by almost £100 to go via plane that has a 14 hour stop over in dublin
makes me wonder if i'm allowed to leave the airport fuck about in dublin and then get the flight to london
UK and Ireland have a common travel area with no restrictions so you should be able to do whatever you want.
